Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom – How To Revive Demise
Fans of The Legend of Zelda probably know Ganondorf as the most popular villain of the series, but in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (also known as BOTW 2), Demise, the most powerful villain of the series , can make a return. The main villain in The Legend of Zelda, Demise, first appeared as the final boss in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. He is later revealed to be the father of Ganondorf and Hylia, Link, and Zelda’s first archenemy. Demise gives up her body to rekindle her hatred with the hero and reincarnation of Hylia. His nemesis takes the form of Ganondorf (or Ganon) in all Zelda games in which he appears.
Even though Demise was defeated at the end of Skyward Sword, that doesn’t mean she’s gone forever. In the Zelda series, bad guys have returned many times. Ganondorf is probably the most famous because he is in so many games, but he is not the only one in the series. Vaati, a wind mage, has also appeared in games like Zelda: Four Swords (which would be great to bring back for the Switch) and The Minish Cap, though he was apparently defeated by an earlier version of Link. Nintendo has shown that it’s okay to bring back enemies that have been defeated, and Breath of the Wild 2 could be where some unexpected bad guys return, maybe even Demise.
Even though both The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Breath of the Wild take place in Hyrule, it’s not always clear which version of Hyrule they are. At one point, Skyward Sword was the first game in the series, but that was before Breath of the Wild came out. There are Easter egg items from Skyward Sword found in Breath of the Wild, but there are also other Easter egg items that make using these items difficult to figure out where the game fits in the timeline. Considering that Tears of the Kingdom could take place before Skyward Sword or even in a timeline where Skyward Sword didn’t happen, it’s possible that Demise is still alive and well.

Aside from the confusing timeline, it’s also possible for Demise to be resurrected in Tears of the Kingdom. In The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Zant tries to bring Ganondorf back. It’s possible that there’s a small bad guy looking for a way to bring Demise back now. When Hylia shut down Demise the first time, she became the Imprisoned One, and her servant Ghirahim freed her from the Skyward Sword in the end.
Nintendo is keeping most information about BOTW 2 close to the vest, even after they announced the game’s name. This makes it difficult to know what they have planned. If the reincarnation process is broken, Ganon will become Calamity Ganon can mean that Demise will return. Fans will just have to wait until May 13, 2023, when The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom finally comes out.
