The famous Scottish Pop singer Leslie Mckeown was found dead at home on Tuesday at 65 on 20 April 2021. The reason is yet unknown for his sudden demise.Les Mckeown was famous for bay city rollers’ band songs.
A statement from his family posted for informing on social media: “It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of our beloved husband and father.”
Mckeown was born on 12 November 1955 in Edinburgh to Irish parents at the Simpson Memorial Maternity Pavilion. He did schooling only at age 15 then he stopped. After that, he joined the band Threshold. Leslie was famous during the time of bay city rollers in the mid-sixties, after entering the band they enjoy huge success in Britain. He replaced former lead singer of band Gorden Nobby Clark. The bay city rollers band is considered one of the first boy’s bands.

Les Mckeown Career Highlight and Band :
The bay city rollers were scored their first place with “Saturday Night”: the version sung by Mckeown was hit in the top 100 in January 1976 and became the most persistent track. The second number hit of Leslie was his single “Shang – a – Lang” in Britain 1973. They had a huge fan following and sold more than 100 million records. The band was popular for their tartan outfits and pop music like “Bye-bye Baby”, “Shang-a-Lang”, “Give a Little Love at the end of the 1960s. The BBC writes, during McKeown’s six-year tenure with Bay City Rollers, the band sold 120 million records. He left the band group in 1978 but rejoined the band for their reunion shows of series in 2015. The top songs can be heard on some films and tv shows also.
In 1975 because of reckless driving, he killed his neighbor, for this, he was banned for almost one year and summoned fined $100. In 2005 again Leslie Mckeown did an accident by drunk driving and that was the double legal limit, he left the incident scene for that Mckeown was again banned for 18 months and fined $1000.
Before his death, he announced a lengthy tour schedule for Bay rollers in 2021. But because of his sudden death, it’s become impossible.
McKeown would record eight LPs with the Rollers and went on to release eight solo albums, though none charted on either side of the Atlantic.
