Love Island USA alumni Deb Chubb and Jesse Bray have split up
Love Island USA alumni Deb Chubb and Jesse Bray called it quits.
The former couple revealed on social media on Tuesday that they had decided to break up after four months of dating.
“Just wanted to let you all know that Jesse and I have made the difficult decision to go our separate ways,” Chubb, 26, wrote on her Instagram story.
“We decided that we work better as friends and will always love and respect each other.”
The California native, who competed on the dating reality show over the summer, continued: “We will always cherish our memories and the time we spent together when we went through this amazing experience.
“We are so grateful for all the love and support and we hope you will continue to support us on our individual journeys.”
Chubb ended the message by explaining why getting closer to each other didn’t help their relationship blossom in the way they had hoped.
“We hoped that geographical proximity would help strengthen our relationship, but we realized that it is better to be friends who will support each other in the next chapter of our lives,” she wrote.
Bray, 27, who lives in Texas, republished his ex-girlfriend’s story, adding: “I want to thank you all for your kind words and support through all this. You’ve helped me grow so much this summer! You mean the whole world to me 🌍🙏🏽☄️💕.”
Chubb later took to social media to share another Instagram story featuring a series of photos from the couple’s time on “Love Island”.
“I am incredibly grateful for all our memories,” she wrote under the post.
Chubb and Bray competed in the fourth season of the series Peacock, which aired from July to September.
During filming, they experienced a number of ups and downs in their relationship, including “awkward” intimate issues.
“We’ve always been physically attracted to each other, but I think so [it was] just a little awkward,” Bray told Page Six in August. “At least I. I’m a bit awkward.
Chubb chimed in, noting that she was also “awkward – especially with the cameras around”.
However, Bray added that they later “accepted the fact that they had all the cameras and microphones.”
“We don’t like being in public just kissing or seeing everyone in our industry knowing what we do, how we do it and what we look like when we do it,” he continued. “We just kind of got over it.”
Chubb and Bray finished the series in third place and chose not to get engaged at the villa.
However, they left the show as boyfriend and girlfriend – even though they lived in different parts of the country.
Zeta Morrison and Timmy Pandolfi won Season 4 of Love Island USA, with Sydney Paight and Isaiah Campbell finishing second.
