Massiel Taveras praises ‘queen’ Kelly Rowland after she pushed a security guard in Cannes
Massiel Taveras has congratulated “queen” Kelly Rowland for standing up for herself after they were both “pushed” off the Cannes Film Festival red carpet by the same security guard.
The 39-year-old Dominican actress took to her Instagram Story on Saturday to post articles showing the Destiny’s Child alum’s reaction to the incident after she publicly reprimanded an employee.
“Queen,” Taveras commented before writing another post, “[We need] respect.”
Last week, Rowland, 43, went viral after she was seen scolding an unidentified employee as she climbed the red stairs to the “Marcello Mio” premiere.
The argument began when the guard tried to tackle the “Survivor” singer by placing her hand on Rowland’s back.
Rowland immediately turned to address the guard, raising her index finger.
A lip reader told Page Six that the “Motivation” singer said, “Don’t talk to me like that. Don’t talk to me like that. You are not my mother. I told you not to talk to me like that.
While it’s unclear what the security guard said, Rowland was reported to have had enough as all the employees were behaving “aggressively.”
After this incident, the hitmaker recalls with emotion the hot moment of Thursday’s amfAR Cinema Against AIDS gala in Cannes.
“This woman knows what happened. I know what happened,” she told AP News. “I have a boundary and I stick to it.”
Rowand continued: “There were other women who frequented this carpet who didn’t exactly look like me and weren’t scolded or pushed or told to get off. I stood my ground and she felt she had to stand her ground. But I stood my ground.”
Despite Rowand’s praise, Taveras did not speak out about her altercation with the same security guard.
The viral video showed an employee running the actress up a red staircase as she tried to show off her long train with an image of Jesus Christ.
The interaction appeared tense as the two argued their way to the top while the ‘The Other Penelope’ star tried to stop and pose for photographers.
As Taveras continued to turn toward the cameras, an employee held her arm near the actress’s back, forcing her to continue moving.
Taveras became visibly upset when the guard touched her and then pushed her as they reached the top of the stairs.
