And ahead of the Sept. 21 premiere, we’ve got your first look at all the costumed celebs taking part in the next installment. This time there are a record 22 costumes to consider, including an avocado, a bride and a scarecrow. A singer in a mask changes format for season eight.

That’s right, in the mystery singing competition, in which celebrities disguise themselves before performing, only one performer will advance to the next round per episode. Specifically, the studio audience will vote for their favorite of the three acts, with the singer with the fewest votes being revealed during the show.

The two remaining contestants will then compete in a Battle Royale with the same song. Whoever lost the Royal will also be forced to unmask.

So, now you understand the need for extra costumes. (Don’t stress too much about the changes because Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger and Ken Jeong still going back to the jury.)
