Meghan Markle meets with the royal family after the death of Queen Elizabeth II
Reunited at last.
Meghan Markle made a public appearance with Prince Harry, Prince William and Kate Middleton on Saturday to pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth II.
All four were photographed as they watched the vast sea of flowers being laid in front of Windsor Castle in honor of the late monarch.
The tour was the first time the two couples appeared together in public since Commonwealth Day on March 9, which was marked by awkward greetings and sullen faces. We are told that it was William who conveyed the invitation to his estranged brother and wife.
“We are all very grateful – both sides put everything aside for the Queen,” said the only royal Page Six source.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex held hands as they looked at the tributes. At one point, Harry lovingly placed his hand on his wife’s back.
They were photographed talking and pointing to various tributes as a crowd of onlookers waved at them.
William and Middleton – the newly minted Prince and Princess of Wales – have also been spotted interacting with the benevolent.
The little Paddington bear was given to William who handed it over to an advisor. He was seen gently touching his wife’s back as she crouched down to talk to the baby standing outside the gate.
Earlier that day, other members of the royal family gathered to look at the floral tributes and notes left behind by the Queen.
It was an emotional scene when the queen’s two granddaughters – Princess Eugenia and Zara Tindall – were visibly moved when love for their beloved grandmother poured out.
As previously reported by Page Six, the Duchess of Sussex did not join her husband, who rushed to Scotland on Thursday to see her grandmother before her death.
Harry, who flew in from the Invictus Games event in Germany, arrived a few hours after Her Majesty’s death.
Harry, William, King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla Parker Bowles traveled to Balmoral Castle after a spokesman for the royal family revealed that the queen’s health was deteriorating rapidly on Thursday morning.
Middleton stayed in England to be with the children – nine-year-old Prince George, seven-year-old Princess Charlotte and four-year-old Prince Louis – on their first day of school.
The royal expert speculated that 41-year-old Markle was not on the side of 37-year-old Harry, as she feared his family members would not react kindly to their argument.
“It may not be terribly warmly received if it is completely honest,” said BBC Royal Correspondent Nicholas Witchell.
Markle and Harry, who had relinquished their royal duties and moved to California in 2020, were in Germany when news spread of the Queen’s ill health. While initial reports said a graduate of The Suit would join her husband for her journey to the Queen’s Bed, Page Six later confirmed that she had only traveled to London, not Scotland.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have yet to issue an official statement on the death of the Queen. However, they paid their respects as the side of their foundation, Archewell, went dark.
“In the loving memory of Her Majesty Elizabeth II 1926-2022” read the message on the black screen.
Harry and Markle last saw the queen while they were in town for their Platinum Jubilee in June. During this time, the monarch was able to meet their one-year-old daughter Lilibet, as well as spend some time with their three-year-old son Archie.
A spokesman for the royal family announced that the queen had died on Thursday, giving way to Harry’s father, King Charles III, to sit on the throne.
The death of the Queen could mean Harry and Markle’s children will receive royal titles as Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet – but only if the family follows tradition.
