Meghan Markle says she and Prince Harry are “happy” during their trip to Nigeria

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have come a long way in five years.
The couple, who have just finished a tour of Nigeria, are in a much better place now than they were during their 2019 visit to Africa.
“We’re just doing great. And I’m happy to watch our family grow and evolve. Of course I’m happy. We are really happy” – Duchess of Sussex he told People Tuesday.
During their three-day stay, the pair visited the Invictus Games-affiliated charity Nigeria Unconquered, spent time at a military hospital in Kaduna, participated in a panel discussion on women in leadership positions and spoke to students at Lightway Academy in Abuja.
Markle, 42, told students how the duo’s daughter, almost 3-year-old Princess Lilibet, recently remarked, “Mom, I see myself in you.” Reflecting on these words, the former actress said, “As I look around this room, I also see myself in all of you.”
Meanwhile, Harry, 39, reminded the group that “it’s okay to not be OK” – an apparent reference to the duo’s tumultuous recent stay on the continent.
Their son, Prince Archie, was only a few months old at the time, and Markle was admittedly struggling with all the negative press she was receiving.
“Every woman, especially when she’s pregnant, is very vulnerable, so it was really challenging,” she said at the time in an emotional interview with ITV’s Tom Bradby.
“And when you give birth to a newborn, you know, especially as a woman, it’s a lot,” she continued. “So if you add that to trying to be a new mom or be a new wife, it’s, um, yeah. Well, I guess so. And thank you for asking because not many people ask if I’m okay, but it’s a very real thing you have to go through behind the scenes.
Markle added that she did warned against marrying Harry“British tabloids will ruin your life.” However, she had “no idea” how “difficult” and “complicated” it would be.
A few months later, she and the Duke of Sussex stepped back from their royal duties and moved to North America.
They currently live in California with their two children, and their relationship with Harry’s family remains strained.
