Meghan McCain won’t be returning to “The View” any time soon.
The mom of two shut down any speculation that she would one day consider returning to the daytime talk show, exclusively telling Astra in the Page Six studios that producers had “no chance in hell” if they asked her to come back — and she would do it anyway.
“I have had children since then,” he says. “I really like my life now and I feel like it’s taken me a long time to get to a place where people see me as more serious.”
“I’m 39, I’ll be 40 in October, and there’s something about turning 40,” she continues, noting that the general perception of her as a “spoiled child” has begun to fade.
“I think it’s because I still work and I’m a mom of two kids,” says McCain, who shares daughters Clover, 1, and Liberty Sage, 3, with husband Ben Domenech, says.
The “Bad Republican: A Memoir” author joined the daytime talk show as a co-host alongside Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines and Ana Navarro in 2017.
She later left the show in 2021, telling viewers she wanted to make Washington, D.C., a permanent home for her family. (“The View” is based in New York.)
As for her relationship with her former “The View” co-hosts, McCain says the situation is complicated.
“I don’t talk to any of the main co-hosts I was with, but I still have friends who work on the show and people I’ve developed relationships with,” she tells us.
“But I never want to say who because I don’t want them to be bullied for still being my friends. I don’t want them to be bullied publicly or privately. And I actually did it.
Despite her broken friendships on the show, McCain finds that she has become surprisingly close to some of the “View” hosts whose seniority extended beyond her time on the show.
When promoting your new podcast, “Citizen McCain” political pundit said one of these friends would appear on the show.
“I actually have some interesting relationships with co-hosts who have been on the show who haven’t been on my seasons – I think I might stop there – for example, Rosie O’Donnell will be appearing on my podcast soon. So please don’t cancel now that I’ve announced it,” she jokes.
“But I have relationships. I love Jenny McCarthy. She is always very supportive. She’s amazing,” adds McCain.
“Elisabeth Hasselbeck. I have her number in my phone. It’s a bit of a strange club. You know, it’s weird being a part of the weird history of television.
