Melanie Raucher of “Naked and Afraid” dies of smelling air canisters: report

An autopsy revealed that Naked and Terrified contestant Melanie Rauscher died by accident when she sucked in a lethal amount of compressed air used in cleaning products.

Rauscher, 35, was found dead near dust cans on July 17 in Prescott, Arizona. An autopsy report by the Yavapai County Medical Examiner stated that Melanie was inhaling a toxic propellant, making her unresponsive. TMZ reported on Saturday.

Her official cause of death was difluoroethane toxicity. Street slang is called “gasping”, a practice mostly used by young adults looking for a cheap high. The report said drugs and alcohol did not play a role in her death.

Rauscher was sitting on the dogs at the time. The owners came home from vacation and found her dead on the bed in the guest room.
