In his first start in nearly a week, Major League Baseball (MLB) pitcher Jacob Anthony deGrom hit a season-high seven innings for the New York Mets.

DeGrom played college baseball for the Stetson Hatters while attending Stetson University and before turning pro. During his baseball career, deGrom transitioned from shortstop to pitcher as a junior at Stetson.

He was selected in the ninth round of the MLB draft by the Mets in 2010 and made his MLB debut with the organization on May 15, 2014.

The New York Mets defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 2-1 on Wednesday. Outfielders Starling Marte and Brandon Nimmo and right-handed pitcher Jacob deGrom deserve credit for the Mets’ win.

Jacob and his wife, Stacey Harris, first met at a bull riding competition. They didn’t meet until after high school when a pal introduced them to a bull riding competition, even though they were born and raised in the same town.

In January, 27-year-old Jacob told the Post she was “a little bit like me, relaxed.”

While Jacob worked his way up through the minor leagues, Stacey worked the night shift conducting clinical research on sleep apnea.

She quit her job after deGrom made his MLB debut. As a result, she spends most of her time looking after her children or attending her husband’s baseball games.

Now a full-time homemaker, she furnishes the couple’s one-bedroom Manhattan apartment with rustic furniture and family photo collages.

Stacey convinced her husband to get a small dog during spring training in 2015, before they were parents, so she could have company through the long season.

It is believed that Jacob and his wife were a year or two old. Jacob, who was born on June 19, 1988, is currently 34 years old while Stacey appears to be in his early 30s.

The baseball player is from DeLand while Stacey is from Lake Helen. Although the couple is from Florida, they grew up in different cities.

Family of four lives in DeLand with a Morkie

After their marriage, the couple made DeLand, Florida their home. They acquired a Morkie, often known as a Pixie, a Maltese/Yorkie mix, to keep Harris from feeling lonely when deGrom was away on business.

The player’s bio states that the couple currently resides in Manhattan’s Upper East Side, but her Facebook page reveals that she still calls DeLand at home.

In their free time, Jacob and Stacey enjoy dining out, learning about other cultures, and strolling around Times Square and Central Park.

Tony and Tammy DeGrom raised DeGrom in DeLeon Spring, Florida.

His father, Tony, was a lineman at AT&T, and his mother, Tammy, worked as a customer service representative for a credit card rewards program.

Also, Tony built his son a batting cage in the backyard so he could practice. DeGrom, on the other hand, credits his father for his calm intensity and humility.

He is one of Tony and Tammy’s three children; his sisters are Sarah and Jessica.

DeGrom was picked by the New York Mets as the 272nd pitcher in the ninth round of the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft. He agreed to join the Mets and received a $95,000 signing bonus. DeGrom was sent from the Mets to the Appalachian League’s Kingsport Mets at the rookie level, where he made six starts before being diagnosed with a partial ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) tear on his throwing arm. After four months of rehabilitation efforts, he underwent surgery by Tommy John in October to repair UCL. While recovering from surgery, he did not pose in 2011. DeGrom and Johan Santana practiced deGrom’s switch while he recovered.

In 2012, DeGrom played for the St. Lucie Mets of the Class A-Advanced Florida State League and the Savannah Sand Gnats of the Class A South Atlantic League. He finished the season with a 2.43 ERA in 19 games started. After two starts for St. Lucie in 2013, he was promoted to the Class AA Eastern League Binghamton Mets for Binghamton due to injuries to Luis Mateo and Cory Mazzoni. After the Mets traded Collin McHugh and promoted Zack Wheeler and Carlos Torres to the major leagues, he was promoted to the AAA Pacific Coast League class Las Vegas 51s in June. He finished the season with a combined ERA of 4.51 due to a fractured finger he sustained over the winter that changed the way he threw the ball.

On November 20, 2013, the Mets moved deGrom to their 40-man roster to keep him from being available for the Rule 5 draft. DeGrom met his wife, Stacey, shortly after receiving his high school diploma. They live in DeLand, Florida and were married in November 2014. They have a Morkie and in April 2016 they had their first child. A daughter, their second child, was born in February 2018.

DeGrom started growing his hair at Stetson. His Mets debuts led to the popular hashtag “#hairwego” on Twitter. A promotional “Jacob deGrom Hair Hat” was distributed at Citi Field during the 2016 season. DeGrom stated in 2016 that he would never cut his hair after learning that an unknown MLB hitter claimed that deGrom’s hair made it difficult for him to get the ball out of his hand. However, he cut his hair in the 2017-18 off-season, claiming that he’s tired of having long hair and that it could add speed to his fastball.
