Michael Strahan’s daughter Isabella missed her 19th birthday because she forgot her actual date of birth due to brain surgery
Michael Strahan’s daughter Isabella has shared insight into her belated 19th birthday celebration after she missed her actual date of birth while recovering from emergency brain surgery.
The teenager, whose birthday was in October, appeared in good spirits while baking cupcakes with a close friend in a vlog she published on her YouTube channel Tuesday.
“We’re having a little birthday party because I wasn’t aware of it,” she said, giggling. “Happy birthday!”
Isabella was also joined in the vlog by her famous father and twin sister Sophia, who helped light the candles on the cupcakes before singing “Happy Birthday.”
The University of Southern California student also shared memories of her birthday, which showed her unconscious in a hospital bed while her family decorated her room with balloons and a birthday sign.
The day before her big day, Isabella underwent surgery to remove a “fast-growing, 4-centimeter tumor” from her brain after she noticed strange symptoms of “vomiting blood” and being unable to “walk straight.”
After the surgery, Isabella underwent 30 days of rehabilitation, during which, with the help of her family, she learned to walk again. She also underwent chemotherapy.
Despite several setbacks, Isabella remained optimistic on her journey.
Last week, Isabella also shared that she was suffering from memory loss as a result of taking the new drug.
“I don’t remember Tuesday because I’m getting this medicine to protect my hearing and just because I have a reaction to it they give me Ativan,” she told viewers.
“And for some reason – this happened last time too – I don’t remember a single thing about that day.”
“I’m sitting on the couch right now and I literally want it to be June already,” she added. “I’m just waiting for the next chemo and I’m kind of scared, like once I do it, how will I go back to normal life?”
In April, the model also spoke emotionally about her third craniotomy after she developed a fever.
“It’s not as bad as the first time, but I’m really hurting. They give me painkillers… they don’t work very well for me. That’s why I suffer a lot,” she said in a YouTube video, crying.
However, Isabella was actively preparing for the future, as she froze her eggs shortly after receiving her diagnosis.
“Since chemotherapy and radiation therapy can impact my fertility, my first step was to freeze my eggs,” she revealed in January.
“It wasn’t fun for me… I’m not a person who likes big needles. I’m used to blood and drips, but injections? It was difficult.”
