As the series draws closer to its conclusion, Mob Psycho 100 Season 3 Episode 1 features a very impressive return from Reigen and Mob in the first episode of Season 3. Let’s find out how things turned out in this review!

Mob Psycho 100 Season 3 Episode 1 Overview

The phenomenon of Mob Psycho 100 on a global scale and its instant success is unique in a way that, given the nature of this medium, will most likely never happen again. Mob Psycho 100 Season 3 or simply titled Mob Psycho Season 3 marks the return of the series for its third and newest installment. The story is based on a manga created by ONE who is also the artist and creator of One Punch Man.

This season is led by the talented team of Yuzuru Tachikawa and Hasui Takahira, who previously worked on shows like Death Parade and Bleach for Tachikawa and My Hero Academia and SK8 the Infinite for Takahira. Tachikawa and Takahira are again in charge of directing this season. Studio Bones, responsible for producing several iconic works in the anime anthology, including Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood and Bungou Stray Dogs, is once again spearheading production on the series.

Mob Psycho 100 Season 3 Episode 1 Review – Regrets

I don’t know what other sign there is that the world is starting to recover from the catastrophe that has been happening every year since 2020, but the fact that Mob Psycho 100 has returned and is just as good as it used to be is one of them . It’s a miracle in itself that this weird little show managed to become popular at all. The fact that the show was able to maintain and even increase its popularity thanks to the exceptional quality of its narration, animation and soundtrack was something far more impressive. I’ll be the first to admit that I didn’t have the same excitement for Season 2 as everyone else, but no one can deny the fact that it’s of outstanding quality. The third season began in a remarkably similar way to the first two, with a look back at the havoc Mob’s pivotal conflict with Claw wreaked.

Well, sort of, this episode served as a great little breather that re-introduced the characters, their personalities and motivations, and their goals for this season. While the larger impact of this on the world will take some time to ponder the narrative, this episode served as a great little breather that did. The monster of the week structure is incredibly effective for this show, and the monsters featured this week were exceptionally strong in their ability to make you despise your own life. Mob Psycho 100 is able to be highly timely and relatable when it tries, and this was one of those times. Although Mob Psycho 100 has one of the most ridiculous concepts for a show in anime history, it can be extremely relevant and relatable when attempted.

The show made us reflect on the meaninglessness of life using a maniac who wanted to exorcise himself. It also got us thinking about how important each of our choices is in the grand scheme of things. Only one bad decision can set us down a path of no return, and we live our entire lives with the regret of taking that path. That’s probably not true in the truest sense of the word because it’s always possible to make changes in your life, especially when you have a lot left of it. That doesn’t make the existential grief any easier, and the way this episode expressed that feeling in a funny yet tragic way made you realize what it was that you loved so much about this show in the first place.

In the rest of this series of reviews, Reigen will only be referred to as “#2 Tumbl Sexyman Reigen” and I will not be taking any inquiries at this time. In this episode, he returned to his seedy, over-the-top business shenanigans, which made him awesome. Somehow, despite his slimy, over-the-top business shenanigans, he managed to be the nicest, most mature character in the program. He’s one of the reasons this program is so entertaining, and he’s easily the best (well, second best, after Sans). Getting a solid arc this time will do wonders for the overall quality of the season.

Serizawa’s inclusion in the show was a pleasant and welcome surprise, and both he and Mob make great foils for #2 Tumblr Sexyman’s antics. The overall storyline for this season is already taking shape in small increments, and the Psychic Helmet Cult will play a significant role in this season’s events alongside Dimple. Due to Mob’s chronic lack of determination, he will have a hard time deciding what to do for a living and where to go after graduating from middle school. At least he has his boss and mentor to help him or keep him as his permanent assistant or both. Well that’s at least something.

Verdict

The first episode of Mob Psycho 100 season 3 was a fantastic opener for the show and did an excellent job of laying the groundwork for the rest of the season. Hello again, members of the mob!
