Reigen feels that Mob doesn’t need to put much effort into his thinking as he has already discovered his purpose in life by becoming psychic. Since it’s only a part-time job, Mob can’t say for sure. Mob is unconvinced by Reigen’s assurances that there’s a good chance the liquor and such consultancy will grow into something more significant in the future. Shortly thereafter, a client comes to the office to have an 80,000 yen doll examined, which he believes is cursed for giving him only unfavorable results in his life.

Mob warns Reigen not to touch the doll as it has been tainted by a longstanding grudge. Reigen insists the customer needn’t worry, but Mob warns him not to touch the doll. After learning this, Reigen reveals to Serizawa that the entire ordeal was just a test, and he tells Serizawa that he is on his own to free the doll from its demonic possession. After the elderly man’s successful exorcism, Serizawa shows signs of extreme concern, leading Reigen to casually ask him if something is wrong with him.
