The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power on Amazon Prime, in which Welsh actress Morfydd Clark plays Galadriel, Queen of the Elves, is likely to make her a household name.

Clark plays Galadriel, a famous elf in Middle-earth who came to be known as the Lady of Lothlórien and was admired for her strength, beauty and intelligence. The TV show is a prequel to the Lord of the Rings film trilogy.

Morfydd recalls that when she found out she was going to play Galadriel in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, she had her hair and makeup done in a hotel room. She received the call that would change her life just before making her debut in The Personal History of David Copperfield at the 2019 Toronto Film Festival. Morfydd passed out on stage because she was so excited.

Although Clark’s parents spoke English at home, her maternal grandparents were farmers from North Wales and spoke Welsh as their first language.

Raised in Penarth, Morfydd is very proud to be Welsh. Her aunt and uncle own the farm near Corwen where her grandfather was born and where her parents and sister still live.

Morfydd enjoys getting her hands dirty on the farm, which means helping give birth to lambs. She told Wales Online: “It’s a lot of fun.” Morfydd is also the mother of a very cute white puppy, who features in her Instagram pictures.

She was diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) at a young age. This makes it difficult for her to pay attention.
