A talented cast highlights this entertaining western

This one might interest you if you’re looking for a crime thriller set in a Western setting, and that’s exactly what it offers. Murder in Yellowstone City is a crime thriller set in a once-thriving gold mining town in Montana during the Wild West era. At the center of this sordid story is an unknown killer who is responsible for several of the deaths. But who is responsible?

Cicero, played by Isaiah Mustafa, was a freed slave who ended up in Yellowstone City hoping for a way to escape his past and start a new life. He is in no way responsible for what happened.

But when a local prospector named Robert Dunnigan is found dead not long after discovering the site of a gold mine, the mysterious newcomer to town quickly becomes the prime suspect in the case. He’s being taken into custody for the crime of Sheriff Jim Ambrose (Gabriel Byrne), but as you probably expected, more people get murdered while he waits to be punished for his alleged crimes. Sheriff Jim Ambrose is played by Gabriel Byrne.

Since any of the citizens of the town of Dunnigans could have had a claim on the gold, it’s reasonable to think that greed was the driving force behind the killings. But as the mystery unfolds, another possible explanation emerges, and some of the town’s residents, like stablehand Violet Running Horse (Tanaya Beatty), clergyman Thaddeus Murphy (Thomas Jane), and saloon owner Edgar Blake (Richard Dreyfuss) become key figures in the complex but not overly convoluted plot.

You will be a little disappointed if you are expecting an Agatha Christie style story where the killer’s identity is not revealed until the end of the film because unfortunately the identity of Dunnigan’s killer is revealed somewhere in the middle of the film. If you’re looking for a movie that’s like a puzzle box, you might be disappointed in this movie, as director Richard Gray and writer Eric Balgua divulge some clues that are too obvious to be considered a mystery.

Still, I don’t think it’s a waste of time to watch the film. It’s pretty unlikely you’ll get bored while watching this entertaining story given the talented cast that also includes Nat Wolff (Paper Towns) and Aimee Garcia (Lucifer) respectively. The excellent work of the actors raises “Murder in Yellowstone City” to a level well above that of the Western B-movie it could have been if the cast had consisted of less talented people.

Yellowstone City undoubtedly has the look of a seedy town with its saloons, brothels and seedy homes, and the town itself has as much character as the mysterious people who have made their home there. The image of the city along with the excellent performances add a lot to the overall credibility of the film. The special effects at the beginning of the film, when an explosive reveals the location of the gold, are less realistic; But once the plot begins and the main mystery is introduced, it’s easy to forget this filmmaking flaw.

Another thing that speaks for the film is that its shootouts are entertaining to watch and convincingly staged. Additionally, other horse chases take place throughout the film, each of which is extremely exciting. If you’re looking for good old-fashioned western action in the form of movies from the past starring John Wayne and Clint Eastwood, then you’ll probably love what the director has pulled off here.

However, there are some problems with the script. Aside from the central mystery, which is solved a bit too quickly, there are other parts of the story that are a bit unclear. For example, there is a moment later in the film where Cicero breaks out of his cell, but we are not shown how he does it. When this deputy is reprimanded for his poor work, not much is explained, nor do we know much about the shortcomings of the security guard who was supposed to be on duty.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the problem lies in the editing, as some parts may have been removed to make the film more manageable; On the other hand, it could just be bad storytelling. It’s a shame that Belgau’s script, which is usually quite intellectual and features unique language and people who aren’t written as stereotypes, couldn’t have worked better for this reason.

I believe that if you are able to look beyond the film’s few hiccups and give it a chance, you will enjoy this film quite a bit. When I first heard about the film, I didn’t have very high expectations for it, largely as I believed it to be a low-budget western that would feature a cast of well-known actors to attract a larger audience . Both Thomas Jane and Richard Dreyfuss are actors who’ve busted their asses in low-budget films in recent years. That’s one of the reasons I initially thought this was just another movie they had agreed to be in just to collect a paycheck.

Luckily I was shown wrong. While Murder at Yellowstone City isn’t considered a classic of the cowboy film genre, it’s still a whole lot better than many of the direct-to-streaming cowboy flicks that have tainted the genre in recent years, and you shouldn’t Mix it up with these movies.

There are several spots on the internet where the reviews aren’t exactly raving for this film, but it’s possible that some reviewers may have set their expectations way too high given the impressive cast. It’s possible that you might like this movie more than them if you can adjust your expectations just a little bit. Anyway, I thought it was pretty good, and if a malicious reviewer wants to meet me at lunchtime for a critical showdown, I’ll be happy to turn up to meet them. I’m also happy to stop by to meet her.
