Myra Hindley has been found to have a net worth of around $1.5 million.

Myra Hindley, the horrific killer responsible for the horrifying Moors murders, has long been considered the most horrible person in all of Britain.

Nearly sixty years after the boy’s death, forensic teams announced they had found no visible evidence of human remains. This revelation prompted police to step up their hunt for Keith Bennett, the victim of the Moors murder case.

In the recently resumed search for 12-year-old Keith, archaeologists ended excavation of the main site after conducting an investigation into the alleged discovery of a human skull.

The search is now focused on the larger region of Saddleworth Moor in the Peak District. Soil samples were taken for analysis. In 1964 it was Ian Brady and Myra Hindley who murdered Keith, although his body was never discovered.

Myra Hindley Net Worth

According to a number of publications on the internet, Myra Hindley’s estimated net worth is somewhere in the vicinity of $1.5 million.

Myra Hindley and her boyfriend Ian Brady got four children to travel in their car between 1963 and 1965. The children’s names are Pauline Reade, Keith Bennett, John Kilbride and Lesley Ann Downey. Instead, the two took her to a remote place called Saddleworth Moor, which was about 15 miles outside of Manchester.

After they arrived, Hindley pretended to have misplaced an expensive glove and asked her victim to help her find it, saying she was desperate for it. Everyone cooperated with Brady’s request and went inside with him to search the reeds for the missing item.

After physically harming each child, Brady cut their throats after making sure they were no longer endangered by traffic. After some time, the couple buried the bodies in the bog. At this point, not all of the bodies of the killed victims have been found.

Hindley eventually gave a full confession of the deaths, emphasizing her key role in the events. She explained that she was responsible for kidnapping the victims because young people in that era were more likely to trust a woman than a man, and that is why she targeted women.

Although both Brady and Hindley displayed a level of barbarism that the UK, shattered by the atrocities of World War II, could not understand, Hindley’s face symbolizes the depth of evil that permeated the killings. Brady’s face, on the other hand, has disappeared from public consciousness.

The image of a woman who kidnaps and kills small children does not fit the traditional view of a woman’s role. Hindley changed the way society viewed women and dispelled the common misconception that aggrieved men were the only ones capable of committing murder for nefarious reasons.

How did Myra Hindley and Ian Brady meet?

In her book Myra Hindley: Inside the Mind of a Murderess, published by Jean Ritchie in 1988, Hindley is portrayed as having been raised in a strict and destitute household by her father, who routinely beat her and taught her violence apply to solve problems.

In 1961, when Hindley was only 18 and working as a typewriter, their paths crossed for the first time with Ian Brady. Although aware that Brady had a history of burglaries, she became intrigued by him.

The two went to see a film about the Nuremberg trials for their first date because Brady wanted to impress her. Brady found the German soldiers quite interesting. He often read criminal biographies, and after dating, the two would take turns reading aloud from a book about atrocities against humanity during their lunch breaks.

To get closer to the Aryan ideal, Myra Hindley then altered her appearance by dying her hair blonde and wearing dark red lipstick. Afterward, the two discussed the possibility of committing crimes together and fantasized about robberies that would net them enormous sums of money.

They were exposed by Hindley’s brother-in-law

Pauline Reade was the first person they murdered, and she died in 1963. On July 12, the then 16-year-old Reade was on her way to a dance when Hindley persuaded her to get in her car and make the trip to the moor instead . Her body was not discovered for another 20 years, but when it was she was still wearing the blue coat and ball gown.

Over the following year, the lives of two more children, Keith Bennett and John Kilbride, were taken in the same way as Reade’s. In December 1964, the two commit the most heinous crime of their lives.

When Myra Hindley and Ian Brady saw 10-year-old Lesley Anne Downey walking around alone at a county fair, they tried to convince her to help them unload some items from her car. After that, she was taken to Hindley’s grandmother’s house to stay.

They removed all of Downey’s clothes, placed a gag over her mouth and then tied her up inside the house. They forced her to pose for photographs while videotaping her cries for help for a total of thirteen minutes. Ian then attacked Brady Downey and repeatedly choked him.

Edward Evans, who was 17 at the time of his death, was the last person to be killed. He was beaten to death in the apartment Brady and Hindley shared. When Brady tried to enlist Hindley’s brother-in-law, David Smith, as an accomplice in the horrific acts, Smith turned himself in to the police, ultimately leading to the group’s discovery. Brady was eventually caught over Smith’s confession.

Smith initially agreed to help dispose of the remains. When he returned home, he informed his wife and Hindley’s younger sister Maureen of the incident and together they made the decision to contact the authorities.

What happened to her partner Ian Brady?

On October 7, the two were taken into custody by the police. Both initially declared that they were innocent of the crime. However, after receiving a tip from Smith, Hindley’s brother-in-law, authorities discovered luggage at a train station containing pictures and an audio recording of Downey being abused. The discovery of this baggage led to the arrest of Downey’s perpetrators.

During the course of the search conducted at Myra Hindley’s home, investigators came across a notebook with the name ‘John Kilbride’ written on the pages.

A search of the area was conducted following the discovery of photos of the couple on Saddleworth Moor. Myra Hindley and Ian Brady were both arrested and charged with triple murder after the bodies of Downey and Kilbride were discovered by police.

Hindley and Brady’s prosecution began in April this year. The violent couple were found guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment as the death penalty had been abolished in Britain at the time.

Following his conviction, Brady was transferred to HM Prison Durham, where he requested to be held in solitary confinement. After being determined to be a psychopath and having spent the last nineteen years in ordinary correctional facilities, he was eventually transferred to the maximum security hospital, Park Lane Hospital, later renamed Ashworth Hospital, located in Maghull, Merseyside. He made it clear that he had no intention of ever being released.

The inquest concluded that Brady’s death was due to natural causes and that his hunger strike had in no way contributed to it. Brady died of restrictive pulmonary disease on May 15, 2017 at Ashworth Hospital after receiving end-of-life treatment.

Although Brady had frequently withheld food and water for more than 48 hours, the investigation found his body mass index was not a cause for concern. This was noted in the report of Brady’s death. As a direct result, a feeding tube was inserted into Brady’s stomach.

Where is Myra Hindley today?

On November 15, 2002, bronchial pneumonia was the cause of death for Hindley, a chain smoker who was 60 years old. He died at West Suffolk Hospital. After suffering a brain aneurysm in 1999, she was diagnosed with angina and hospitalized for her condition.

Camera crews “were lined up behind steel barriers” outside the Cambridge cremation as a small group of eight to 10 people attended a brief service at the Cambridge cremation. However, none of Hindley’s relatives were present.

Even more than 35 years after the murders, the emotion had apparently remained so intense that twenty local funeral homes refused to oversee her cremation. Her former lover Patricia Cairns scattered her ashes four months later at Stalybridge Country Park, less than 10 miles from Saddleworth Moor.

An article was published in the Manchester Evening News entitled ‘Possible concerns that could make tourists avoid or destroy the park’. The article discussed the potential concerns this can cause.

During her time behind bars, Myra Hindley resumed her earlier religious practices by going to church, completing her education at the Open University and cutting all ties with Ian Brady.

It’s possible that Myra Hindley’s apparent eagerness to better herself and her insistence on being brainwashed are signs that she is at least partially innocent. However, attempts at forgiveness are futile considering that the bodies of five children were stolen and burned while she was dominating the situation.
