“Needy” Prince Harry “clings” to Meghan Markle: royal expert
Prince Harry “clings” to Meghan Markle’s wife “like a man in need, like a life raft,” says only royal biographer Tom Bower for Page Six.
The Duchess of Sussex “meets all the” demands “of the Duke of Sussex that” he did not get from other girls, “explains the author of The Revenge: Meghan, Harry, and the Windsor Wars.
Bower also claims that Harry, 38, is a “damaged” and “very concerned” man as a result of childhood trauma – and Markle, 41, reportedly knew how to get one.
“He is mentally wronged by both his mother’s death and the way his father treated his mother and Harry himself when he was a child,” the author tells us.
The troubled life of Prince Harry – and his royal relatives – has been widely publicized for years.
The unhappy marriage of his mother, Princess Diana, caused by King Charles III’s long affair with his current wife, Queen Consort Camilla, has been well documented in the press.
Former Princess of Wales tragic death in August 1997 – when Harry was only 12 – also caught the attention of the media.
The prince had previously opened up to the trauma surrounding his childhood, accusing his father of passing on the “cycle” of “genetic pain and suffering” to Dax Shepard’s Podcast “Armchair Expert” in 2021.
Markle always claimed that she knew nothing about the royal family when they were dating, and only asked if he were “nice”.
However, in The Revenge, Bower claimed that the “Suit” graduate had thoroughly examined Harry before their first date at the Dean Street townhouse in Soho House in early July 2016.
“Her genius was that before meeting him, she thoroughly examined him and, as an intelligent woman with a lot of experience, knew exactly what buttons to press,” says the biographer for Page Six.
Bower insists that Harry was unhappy as an older member of the royal family, and Markle suggested a way out.
They both resigned from their royal duties in January 2020 – less than two years after their wedding in May 2018.
Harry and Markle now live in Montecito, California with their two children, Archie (3) and Lilibet (1), and have signed lucrative deals with Spotify and Netflix.
“I think he enjoyed paddling in the Pacific a lot more than shaking hands in the rain in a northern city in Britain,” Bower tells us, referring to the often uninteresting events that the royal family undertakes every year.
Bower also believes that the recent death and funeral of Queen Elizabeth II must have been particularly difficult for the royal renegade, as he was unable to wear a military uniform, salute his grandmother’s coffin, and was not invited to a pre-funeral party.
“I think the funeral made him feel a little unhappy about being so cut off from family and friends and being an outsider,” adds Bower. “And I think it puts a lot of pressure on their relationship.”
Harry’s representative did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment on Bower’s remarks.
