NeNe Leakes reports on his son Brentta after a stroke
NeNe Leakes took to her Instagram Stories on Monday to confirm that her son Brentt suffered a stroke earlier this month.
“Two weeks ago, Brentt had congestive heart failure and a stroke,” said a 54-year-old Real Housewives of Atlanta graduate in one of the films.
“He’s only 23, so he’s really young for something like this to happen to him.”
Leakes said doctors suspected the drug use might be related to Brentt’s age, but the former Bravolite confirmed that her son “does not drink or take drugs” and also stated that his drug test was negative .
“They thought maybe he had COVID, or maybe he didn’t know he had COVID,” she continued, noting that doctors had allegedly informed her that people who had the Delta variant of the infection experienced similar problems.
However, Leakes said she is unaware Brentt has ever had a coronavirus, so they are still looking for answers.
“We’re still trying to figure it out because if we knew the cause, they could of course treat it,” said the former host of the Fashion Police.
Leakes said doctors are still considering the fact that Brentt had undiagnosed heart disease since childhood and have ruled out that his weight is a problem.
The “Apprentice” graduate said she also eliminated the fact that her son was “very stressed” in September as it was the first anniversary of his father Gregg Leakes’ death from colorectal cancer.
“This is something else that we are dealing with that doctors do not even know yet,” she added.
Leakes said she would not go into detail about how she found out about her son’s “serious” health situation, but called it a “very scary thing.”
“He has trouble speaking,” she added, then briefly speechless and asked the fans to “keep us in their prayers.”
The New Normal graduate shared that Brentt FaceTimed her Monday morning “in a good mood”, but they are both “shocked, just shocked.”
Leakes said she did not want to talk to the public about the situation just yet, and wanted to wait to talk when Brentt was “in a better place”.
However, TMZ broke the message earlier, on Monday, Brentt spent several days in the hospital after a stroke and heart attack – the latter was later repaired by leaks.
The reality show star also said on his Instagram Stories that because of his son’s condition, he is considering selling the club he co-owns, The Linnethia Lounge.
“He showed some improvement,” she noted. “We are grateful for that.”
