American drag racer Antron Brown drives the Matco Tools Top Fuel Dragster for AB Motorsports and competes in the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series.

Brown is known for his victories at the 2012, 2015 and 2016 Top Fuel Championships. The first African American to win the sports championship is Antron. Brown finished second in 2001 and 2006 and won a total of 16 motorcycle races.

He actually enjoyed riding a Pro Stock motorcycle when he first started racing professional drag races and he became instantly popular with both spectators and rivals alike.

Anson has proven his talent by taking home a string of Midwest Jr. championships. Super Series Later, on his 17th birthday in 2021, he decided to upgrade to a larger vehicle and his parents surprised him with a Super Comp license course with Frank Hawley.

With the support of his grandmother, Dolores, who competes frequently, Antron Brown’s grandfather was the one who initiated the Brown drag racing gene in the family.

Later, Albert, NHRA Racer’s father, made the same career decision as his grandfather. He was an athletic drag racer and ran a septic tank service. Antron grew up racing at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown, New Jersey, where his father and uncle Andre Brown competed.

After watching his father and uncle race, he developed an interest in racing. He started motorcycle racing at the age of six and motocross at the age of twelve where he honed his skills on a track he created on the farm. As a high school senior, he competed in his first drag race.

Much like Antron, 13-year-old Anson is now the fourth generation of the Brown family of drag racers. In addition, his son Adler and his other daughter Arianna have followed in his footsteps.

According to Brown, his children achieved success at junior dragsters from a young age and learned important life lessons. His son Anson won the Midwest Junior Dragster Championship last year. The Brown family will now compete in the NHRA Summernationals for three generations.

Early life

Brown’s family moved to his grandmother’s 10-acre farm in rural Chesterfield Township, New Jersey after the death of his grandfather at the age of six. Brown’s father, Albert, owned a septic tank service and competed in athlete-level drag racing. Brown lived in Trenton, New Jersey until he was six years old when his family moved to the farm. Antron started racing motorcycles at the age of six and motocross at the age of twelve, practicing on a track he built on the farm where he also serviced the cars as a boy. As a senior in high school, he competed in his very first drag race.

Brown attended Northern Burlington County Regional High School before becoming a track and field sprinter and long jumper at Mercer County Community College in New Jersey. In 1997 he graduated from Mercer County Community College with an associate’s degree in business administration. Brown’s athletic achievements earned him the nickname “Brown Lightning”. After being offered the opportunity to run at Long Island University on a full scholarship, he was called by soccer player Troy Vincent, whose wife was married to Brown’s cousin, who started a racing team. Brown’s cousin was Brown’s wife.

Between 1998 and 2007, Brown competed in the NHRA’s Pro Stock Motorcycle class. He spent his first three years in the division with Vincent’s team 23 Racing. In the motorcycle division, Brown was victorious in 16 events and finished with a career-best second in points in both 2001 and 2006. In 2008 he made the switch to Top Fuel Dragsters. In 2012, 2015 and 2016 Brown was crowned champion of the top fuel class.

Personal life

Brown, his wife, Billie Jo, and their three children, Anson, Adler, and Arianna, currently reside in Pittsboro, Indiana. He is also a very devoted follower of Christ.

Brown had a guest appearance in Season 3 Episode 8 of the A&E reality show Storage Wars entitled “The Fast and the Curious”. Brown played the role of an appraiser in this episode.
