Nia Long on Ime Udoka’s alleged affair, Celtics suspension
Actress Nia Long broke her silence about the alleged romance of her fiancé, Ime Udoka.
Boston Celtics Thursday announced that Udoka will be suspended as head coach of an NBA team for “violation of team rules” which allegedly includes an alleged affair with a female staff member.
Through her representative, Long told Page Six on Friday that although “recent events” had been “difficult” for her to “process,” she was asking her loved ones for strength.
“The outpouring of love and support from family, friends and community at this difficult time means a lot to me,” the statement said.
“Please respect my privacy when processing recent events. First of all, I am a mother and I will continue to focus on my children. “
Shortly before the Celtics announced the suspension of Udoka for the entire 2022-23 season – and it was stated that “his future decision” with the “off-season” basketball team would be made “at a later date” – sources told ESPN that he had engaged in a “close relationship with a woman from the franchise staff.”
People later confirmed allegations.
According to ESPN, even with consensus, such a relationship is considered a violation of the organization’s guidelines.
The selling point further noted that a long vacation is considered an unprecedented punishment for a head coach sitting in the NBA.
As for Udoka, he issued a statement on the matter late Thursday via sports commentator Maliki Andrews, but made no reference to the alleged romance outside.
“I want to apologize to our players, fans, the entire Celtics organization and my family for failing them. I apologize for putting the team in such a difficult position and I accept the team’s decision, ”we read in a statement posted on Twitter.
“Out of respect for everyone involved, I won’t have any further comments.”
Long, 45, and Udoka, 51, have been dating since 2010 and have been engaged since 2015. Together, they share a 10-year-old son, Kez Sunday Udoka.
The “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” star is also the mother of Massai Dorsey II’s 21-year-old son, co-born by actor Massai Dorsey.
