Nick Lachey responds to ex-Love Is Blind’s claim to cut black women
Nick Lachey referred to ex-Love Is Blind star Lauren Speed’s claims that Netflix’s hit “cuts” black women.
Led by the influential pair Nick and Vanessa Lachey, the series is about a group of lonely hopes who try to find love in pods and get engaged invisibly.
Now the 48-year-old singer of 98 Degrees said: Entertainment tonight that Speed’s remarks were an “honest observation,” adding that he could “understand where it was coming from.”
However, Lachey admitted that “he’s not sure what exactly you can do with it, except keep throwing with variety what they did.”
Last month, Speed, which featured in the show’s first season, slammed producers after the third season premiered on Netflix.
“I don’t like how the LIB cuts all black women. How come they are always in the trailer, but not in the show … 👀 ”she tweeted.
She then claimed that most of the coverage on the show is arranged by the producers for the camera.
“I know these are lean choices, but still about 85% of them are being forced (just moving forward for entertainment purposes). You could all at least get more sisters to move forward throughout the show, ”wa wrote continuation of the tweet.
Speed met her current husband, Cameron Hamilton, on the 2020 show, and the couple are still married two years later.
When asked how producers determine which couples make the final cut, a Detroit resident says some couples who engage in the show aren’t even shown on TV.
“I think they only show what they find most fun,” she said, adding that producers send them “home and stop filming”.
