Warning: The following recap of Once Upon a Small Town episode 6 contains spoilers

The sixth episode of Once Upon a Small Town begins with a flashback showing Ji-traumatic yul’s experience and how he was involved in a tragic accident a few years ago in which he lost both his parents. When we return to the present, Ji-yul saves Ja-young from destruction the same way her father saved Ja-young all those years ago.

As Ja-young remains unconscious in the hospital, Ji-yul watches over her worriedly as the nurse attends to her. Sang-hyeon arrives just as he’s about to hold her hand, and he praises Ji-yul for helping his friend before they shake hands. Ji-yul leaves the hospital feeling a little sad now that Sang-hyeon is there, while Ja-young wakes up from her slumber and assures Sang-hyeon that she’s fine despite her earlier worries.

When she asks him how he got there, he informs her that Ji-yul reported the accident and helped him get to the hospital, and then jokes about how he owes the doctor his sympathy. He’s leaving. Ji-yul watches how close Sang-hyeon and the girl are as he helps the girl out of the hospital and into her car. He decided to leave without saying anything.

At her house, Ja-young searches for an appropriate expression to convey her gratitude to Ji-yul, but she can’t express her true feelings. Sang-hyeon, on the other hand, remembers seeing Ji-yul waiting in the hospital parking lot, and it causes him to reflect on a few different things while he works at the peach farm. . In a similar way, Ji-yul also thought of himself independently.

The next day, Ja-boss young gives him the day off so he can rest, and he uses the opportunity to visit Ji-yul and express his gratitude to her for what she did the day before. However, Ji-yul isn’t at the veterinary clinic, and as a result, he brings some popsicles for them to enjoy on his way to another neighbor’s house. Meanwhile, Ji-yul leaves the events of the previous day behind to visit the columbarium owned by her parents.

Both Ja-young and Ji-yul are uncomfortable with their encounter with each other when it happens while they are on their way home. After the initial uncertainty, Ja-young starts to thank him for his help, but their conversation is abruptly cut short when he receives an important phone call from another location. Sang-hyeon arrives to pick up Ja-young as she stares at Ji-deteriorating yul’s car, and the two continue their conversation regarding the events with Majeong. After some time, when she mentions what he once said about his love for her, she cheerfully encourages him to think about it more.

During this time, Ji-yul visits an old man’s home to check on his bull. Unfortunately, the bull is not doing well, and the man wants Ji-yul to end the bull’s suffering by euthanizing him. The bull has not eaten anything for over a month. On the other hand, during the gathering of residents from Majeong and Huidong that same night, a fight broke out between two of the towns’ respective populations.

Ji-yul must make the difficult decision of thinking of the appropriate remedy to relieve the bull’s suffering and end its suffering. At the same time, people from Majeong refer to Ja-young as uncultured due to the fact that she has no parents. However, Sang-hyeon works, if only for a moment, to lighten the load that Ja-young carries.

On his walk to clear his brain, Ji-yul helps the bull cross the road, and the old man’s kind words to his longtime friend bring tears to the vet’s eyes. Later, the man has a conversation with Ji-yul about his parents, and it turns out that Ji-yul was under the man’s care when the tragedy happened years ago. They develop a sense of camaraderie by sharing their misfortunes, and the old man shares his belief that those we have lost will find their way back to us.

The end of Once Upon a Time in a Small Town Episode 6

However, before Ji-yul leaves, the man reveals that when they were kids, he and Ja-young used to play together. It jogs new memories for Ja-young and helps clarify the situation for her. When he comes to her, she’s sitting by the river, and he immediately remembers the times when they were both younger and Ja-young was his best friend and helped him get over the grief of losing his parents.

Ji-yul and Ja-young exchange glances as memories from their childhood come back to them as they stand in front of each other at the location where they used to hang out when they were younger.

A Flashback to Once Upon a Time in a Small Town Episode 6

Episode 6 turned out to be a pretty good episode now that we’re not forcing anyone to do anything they don’t want to do. I believe most people in the audience were waiting for Ji-yul to finally remember Ja-young, and I have to admit that I adored the way they brought the narrative back to her. I was on the verge of crying when I saw the old man with the bull, and it makes perfect sense that he would be familiar with Ji-yul and his relationship with Ja-young from the past years.

Overall, I found this episode to be quite enjoyable to watch, despite the fact that it was quite emotional.

Netflix currently has Once Upon a Small Time available to watch online.
