Paris Hilton has mothers concerned after her son wore his life jacket backwards in a swimming video

Paris Hilton set off alarm bells for several parents who watched TikTok video about how she was swimming with her one-year-old son Phoenix after they noticed that his puddle jumper – the child’s life jacket – was not put on properly.
“Adventures with Baby P,” the “Simple Life” alum, 43, captioned a Sunday clip of herself carrying her baby as he splashed around a hotel pool in a blue float that covered his back and shoulders.
“Hey mom, this is just a tip from another puddle jumping mom, I think it’s the other way around. But I love this video, pure joy,” one fan commented, receiving over 800 “likes.”
Another person also quoted, “The little vest is upside down,” before encouraging the young mom, “what an amazing mom you are!!! Enjoy every moment.”
A third assured the heiress that the mistake was common, adding: “It’s true [sic] the floats are put on backwards, the clip goes in the back 🥰but this also happens to many young mothers.”
A fourth person, claiming to be a swim instructor, advised: “Swim teacher, see if you can swap the puddle jumper for a float jacket. It allows him to use his arms to help him swim ❤️.”
Hilton did not respond to or share the comments in a separate TikTok video Sunday that her son was fine as they both enjoyed walks on the beach together.
The Paris In Love star – who first welcomed Phoenix via surrogate with husband Carter Reum in January 2023 and later gave birth to daughter London in November – admitted to her parenting shortcomings.
Earlier this month, Hilton sparked safety concerns after she showed her son and 6-month-old daughter car seats on social media – but they happened to be forward-facing, i.e. against the law.
One person then wrote: “Please check [sic] The car seat manual displays whether the latch and seat belt can be used at the same time. Usually difficult. In addition, a rear-facing driving license is usually valid until the age of 2.”
Hilton accepted this opinion without hesitation, writing under a video of her children properly seated in the vehicle: “Thanks for the advice mom, I’m new at this.”
The “Stars Are Blind” singer added, “The #CutesieCrew is now ready to take off in the #SlivingMom van.”
She then wrote in the comments: “No one is perfect.”
Last week, Hilton promised to be a strict parent when her children grow up.
The “Fame Won’t Love You” singer told the Wall Street Journal that she plans to closely monitor their cellphones and social media.
She said, “I hope they’re nerds like their dad and don’t want anything to do with this.”
