Patrick McMullan recovers from emergency spine surgery
Beloved social photographer Patrick McMullan is recovering from thyroid cancer surgery earlier this year.
McMullan is now in rehab after having had emergency spine surgery last week to remove a herniated disk, Page Six said Tuesday.
“It was completely sudden. I started feeling really bad pain. The doctor said go do the MRI … I didn’t even have a phone charger with me, when I woke up I had to ask the nurse to charge my phone, ”he told us.
McMullan recovers on the Upper East Side. “My prognosis is good, but my legs are numb and I still feel a lot of pain,” he said.
“I’ve been looking forward to commemorating the three great New Yorkers Bobby Zare, Mort Janklow and Doug McCormick all this week, so I can’t go,” he said.
McMullan told us that he had watched his height drop from 5ft by 10 to around 5ft by 8 people and was concerned that he would potentially not be able to take pictures again.
“It’s hard to go any further. The world seems to be gathering up and telling me to stop shooting, but I hate the idea, ”he said.
Perhaps he will go back to the ’70s when: “The only thing I ever used was a pocket camera that Andy Warhol gave me because he said,’ You can’t walk around with that big camera. They will rob you! Maybe I will return to this type of camera – he mused.
Here is a quick recovery and a comeback behind the lens!
