Prince Andrew’s ex-girlfriend Koo Stark: Where is she now?

Jamie Crawford’s Peacock documentary Prince Andrew: Banished examines the claims made against the Duke of York, second son of the late Queen Elizabeth. The documentary explores Andrew’s alleged relationships with Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein, as well as Virginia Giuffre’s allegations that Andrew molested her as a teenager. His friendship with Kathleen Norris “Koo” Stark in the 1980s is also mentioned in the film. So if you want to know where Koo is right now, here’s what we know.

Where is Koo Stark today?

Born to parents who worked in the entertainment industry, Kathleen Norris Stark soon followed in their footsteps. She appeared in a number of films in the 1970s, and Princess Leia from “Star Wars” was reportedly a role she was being considered for. Koo explained in 2016 that she was offered the role, rather than the small role, which she ended up playing in the film (her role was later cut). Koo worked as an understudy in a theater production in London, England in 1981.

There, Koo and Prince Andrew were arranged to go on a blind date. They clicked immediately and shortly after, they started dating. Koo got to know the royal family over the months that followed, and the queen reportedly welcomed her. They were both together before Andrew entered the Falklands War, and after, but in 1982 the media found out about their relationship, making it difficult for them to go about their daily lives.

Koo later recalled, “The paparazzi were everywhere and the attention at the time was extraordinary. Once my hair was pulled by a motorcycle and a long lens hit me in the solar plexus. Motorbike photographers literally drove into restaurants to try and take a picture of us together. Every time my address has been published for two years, I have moved.”

Who is Koo Stark?

Koo had a role in an art house film in 1976 with some sexual scenes, it was later discovered. She was eventually deemed unsuitable to be Andrew’s partner and their relationship, which had lasted 18 months, came to an end. Koo later claimed that their relationship suffered because of the fame. She described being informed in the early 1980s in 2021 that she was on an IRA kill list.

Tim Jeffries, the gallery owner, and Koo’s marriage in 1993 quickly ended in divorce. Their daughter Tatiana was born about four years later, with Warren Walker as her biological father. Warren and Koo engaged in a lengthy court battle following their divorce. Before she was exonerated in 2013 when she returned an artwork to him, she was accused of stealing it. She further claimed that Warren agreed to pay her a lump sum payment in addition to an annual sum of money, but Warren denied this, and the judge ruled in his favour.

Koo also ran into financial difficulties and filed for bankruptcy in 2011. When the charges against Prince Andrew were made public in February 2015, Koo spoke for him, saying: “My immediate emotion was anger, followed by astonishment at the lurid allegations made against a man I have known well for more than 30 years . He was accused of acting in the worst possible way. His life is marred by the stain on his reputation like fresh blood from a wound. She denied Virginia’s allegations because she believed Andrew was innocent. Koo received defamation damages from MTV in 2019 after being labeled a “porn star.”

Koo underwent a mastectomy in 2002 after receiving a breast cancer diagnosis, and she later underwent a second. She has since stopped eating dairy and stays away from processed foods. Since beginning her career as a photographer in 1982, Koo has held numerous exhibitions of her work and successfully applied her knowledge of yoga and meditation. In 1985 she also published a book on photography. Koo, a London resident, was inspired to write memoirs by the Dalai Lama. In addition, she has planned an exhibition honoring photographer Julia Margaret Cameron for 2024.

When did she meet Prince Andrew?

In 1981, Koo and Prince Andrew went on a blind date.

Before and after his active participation in the Falklands War, the couple remained close for about two years.

They vacationed together on the island of Mustique in October 1982.

They are set to marry after he takes her to Balmoral to meet his family.

Andrew was in love and, according to Lady Colin Campbell, the Queen was “extremely impressed with the stylish, intellectual and discreet Koo”.

However, the couple broke up in 1983 after topless pictures of the actress and a nude lesbian sex scene from Koo’s film Emily surfaced, along with pressure from the media, paparazzi and the palace.
