Prince Harry did not disregard King Charles III over Meghan’s alleged ban
Despite rumors that Prince Harry had disregarded his father’s invitation to dinner when he landed in Scotland, Page Six only learned that King Charles III had already left for his private residence.
When Harry arrived at Balmoral Castle on September 8, Charles and Prince William had already headed for the monarch’s house on the estate, according to a palace source.
They weren’t in Balmoral for dinner at all.
Sun reported on Thursday that Harry, 38, declined his father’s invitation after his wife, Meghan Markle, was allegedly banned from the family circle at the castle to mourn the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
According to the information, Harry wanted 41-year-old Markle to join his relatives on the day his beloved grandmother died at the age of 96.
The newspaper reported that Charles, 73, had called his son to say the ex-actress’s presence was “inappropriate.”
While there was no backoff at dinner, Harry and Meghan – who infamously relinquished their royal duties in 2020 – faced a series of struggles in paying tribute to Elizabeth in the UK.
In addition to frosty interactions with William and his wife Kate Middleton, the couple were invited – and later uninvited – to a state party for world and foreign leaders last Friday.
Page six only reported that they only found out about it after reading in the press about “rejection”.
Harry, who served 10 years in the military, was initially unable to wear a military uniform to the Queen’s funeral – where he and Meghan stayed away from 40-year-old William and Kate.
However, Charles eventually allowed Harry to wear his uniform on the watch.
Harry was stripped of his military titles when he stepped down as a working member of the royal family.
In his first statement about his grandmother, he said: “Grandma, although this last breakup brings us great sadness, I am always grateful for all our first meetings – from my earliest childhood memories to meeting you as my commander in chief, you met my beloved from the very first moment. your wife and you hugged your beloved great-grandchildren.
“I am enjoying the moments we shared with you and many other special moments between them. I miss you so much already.
After relieving themselves of any royal obligations, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex – who share Archie’s 3-year-old son and Lilibet’s 1-year-old daughter – moved to Montecito, California. They flew back to the United States on Wednesday.
