Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Archewell Foundation has reopened after being deemed “criminal”.

“We have carefully investigated the situation and can confirm that the Archewell Foundation is fully compliant and in good standing,” a spokesperson told Page Six in a statement Tuesday.

“Payments due were made promptly and in accordance with IRS processes and procedures. Moreover, all necessary documents were submitted by the Foundation without errors or omissions.”

We’re told Harry, Markle and other Archewell bosses were surprised by the news, and although they acted quickly to rectify the situation, resolution of the matter was delayed due to the Sussexes’ trip to Nigeria.

We were told the amount owed was $200, not including any late fees.

Page Six revealed on Monday that the California Registry of Charities and Fundraisers had deemed Harry and Markle’s foundation “in default,” ordering it to stop raising and spending money.

An official letter from state Attorney General Rob Bonta said the pair and their team “failed.”[ed] to submit required annual reports and/or renewal fees” to Archewell.

“An organization listed as a criminal is not in good standing and is prohibited from engaging in activities requiring registration, including raising or disbursing charitable funds,” the memo reads.

“The organization may also be subject to penalties and its registration may be suspended or revoked by the Registry.”

We were initially told the couple had applied for an extension. We were later told that the initial check sent to the attorney general’s office had not arrived, so a new one was issued.

Harry and Markle – who have been living in Montecito since 2020 – started the foundation after stepping down from royal duties and moving across the pond.

The Archewell Group includes the duo’s non-profit charitable foundation, as well as for-profit business divisions focused on media production, Archewell Audio and Archewell Productions.
