Prince Harry related the death of the Queen minutes before the news: report

Prince Harry reportedly learned of the death of his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, just five minutes before the palace was officially announced.

The Duke of Sussex received a call from his father, King Charles III, while he was in the air on September 8, shortly before landing in Aberdeen, Scotland, 80 miles from Balmoral Castle where the 96-year-old monarch died. The Telegraph reported Sunday. Before his plane landed, a statement was issued announcing the news.

In response to the report, a spokesman for the king stressed in a rare statement: “The public was only informed after informing each member of the family.”

Charles’s representative did not share, however when Harry was informed of the death of the queen.

A royal source pointed out in The Telegraph that Harry, 38, was not treated differently from other members of his family, and that Charles, 73, “had no regular contact” with anyone, while his mother’s health deteriorated rapidly.

“Everyone was trying to get where they needed to be,” adds the source. “It was the main goal.

“And the king was adamant that an official statement could not be issued until all family members were notified. It was the talking father because he cares about it.

The source tells Page Six that “while it is true that Harry only found out just before the general public, it was because he flew to Scotland and could not be contacted.”

Family members had been informed the previous evening of the queen’s deteriorating health, but the report said it was not considered serious enough for everyone to rush to Balmoral.

The next morning, however, things changed, and plans hastily hatched for Charles to fly to Balmoral from Dumfries House. Later that morning, he called Prince William and Harry with the news that their grandmother was losing fast and they should head to Scotland as soon as possible.

Harry reportedly picked up the phone “some time” from his brother, which made him look for a transport from Germany where he was visiting the Invictus Games.

Harry’s plane reportedly didn’t take off from Luton Airport until 5:35 PM

The statement was released at 6:30 PM and Harry’s plane landed 16 minutes later. He was photographed arriving at Balmoral an hour later, looking devastated.

The rumored delayed summon seems to be in line with the way the palace has treated Harry and his wife Meghan Markle over the past week.

The couple who resigned from their royal duties in 2020 were invited and then dropped out of a state reception for world leaders and foreign royalty.

Page six only said that they only found out they were “uninvited” after reading about it in press reports.

Harry was also “devastated” and “heartbroken” when the military uniform he wore to watch over his grandmother’s coffin on Saturday night was stripped of the late queen’s royal code, her initials “ER”.

“He’s broken,” said a London Sunday Times friend. “Removing Grandma’s initials is very intentional.”

The friend said he was so “devastated” that the prince almost wore his morning suit to avoid “humiliation.”
