Both William and Harry wore their military uniforms. Buckingham Palace confirmed that the latter would wear it for the vigil at “the request of the King”. Sky News reported Harry, a British veteran who like his brother served on the front line during two tours of duty in Afghanistan, was stripped of his military ranks following him and his wife Meghan Markle2020 royal departure and he was not allowed to wear the uniform until the Queen’s vigil.

According to Sky News, William wore a Blues and Royals No. 1 uniform, garter belt, garter star, gold, diamond and platinum jubilee medals and RAF pilot’s wings. Harry wore a No. 1 Blues and Royals uniform, KCVO collar and star, Afghanistan Operational Service Medal, Gold, Diamond and Platinum Jubilee Medals and Army Pilot Wings, the paper reported.

A day earlier, the queen’s four children — Charles, Anne, Andrew and Edward — held their own vigil at her coffin.

After the Queen’s death, members of the royal family also appeared in public to greet the mourners. Hours before the grandkids took to the service, the King and William made a surprise visit to greet dozens of fans who had lined up to see the late monarch’s coffin.
