Prince William, Kate Middleton are taking over the Cornwall title on social media
Prince William and Kate Middleton are already accepting new titles.
The royal couple assumed the titles of Duke and Duchess of Cornwall after William’s father – now King Charles III – ascended the throne following the death of Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday.
“The official account of the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and Cambridge and the Royal Foundation based in Kensington Palace,” reads their official biographies on Twitter and Instagram.
The parents of three children, both of whom are 40, will also become the Prince and Princess of Wales, a title held by Diana, the late mother of Charles and Williams.
The title draw for the royal family came after the longest-reigning British monarch died “peacefully” at Balmoral Castle at the age of 96 after he was placed under “medical supervision”.
Her death marked the beginning of a new era for the House of Windsor as Charles takes the throne to become king of Great Britain and the Commonwealth. At the request of Queen Camilla Parker Bowles, his wife, become the Queen Consort.
The current king – formerly known as Prince Charles – said in a statement that his mother’s departure was “a moment of great sorrow.”
“We deeply mourn the passing of our beloved Ruler and beloved Mother. I know that her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, Kingdoms and the Commonwealth, as well as by countless people around the world ” statement to read.
He continued, “During this period of mourning and change, my family and I will be comforted and sustained by our knowledge of the respect and deep affection with which the Queen was so widely favored.”
The entire royal family, including Prince Harry, rushed to Scotland to mourn the loss of the late Queen. Meghan Markle did not travel with her husband, however, because she was in Germany promoting the Invictus Games.
Middleton also lagged behind as Thursday was the first day of school for the couple’s children – 9-year-old Prince George, 7-year-old Princess Charlotte and 4-year-old Prince Louis – in Windsor, England.
The deceased monarch survived four children: princes Charles, Andrew and Edward, and Princess Anna, her eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
