Princess Anna curls before the coffin of Queen Elizabeth’s deceased mother
Princess Anna made a cordial gesture to her late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, on Sunday.
The 72-year-old royal was he noticed a curtsy in front of his mother’s coffinwhich was adorned with the Royal Standard of Scotland when it was taken to the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh.
Anne, the only daughter of the late Queen, was visibly devastated in the days following her mother’s death at the age of 96.
The grandmother looked tearful at age five as she spent time with other members of the royal family – including the children, Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall, and husband Timotha Laurence – reading the tributes and admiring the flower tributes left in honor of the long reigning monarch.
Often referred to as the hardest working member of the royal family, Anne has also embarked on the painful task of accompanying her mother’s coffin as she embarks on the long journey to her final resting place in Windsor.
On Sunday, she drove alongside a hearse carrying her mother’s coffin, which was slowly traveling to Edinburgh.
“Accompanying her late mother’s coffin on Sunday on a six-hour journey from Balmoral to Edinburgh, the 72-year-old has once again lived up to her reputation as a royal soldier who always goes one step further.” The telegraph reported.
And Anne’s devotion doesn’t stop there.
On Saturday it was announced that Anne will accompany her mother’s coffin as she is flown to Scotland by Royal Air Force plane to RAF Northolt on Tuesday.
From there, the coffin will be taken to Buckingham Palace, where it will rest in the Arc Hall.
Though Anne has always been considered “Daddy’s girlfriend” – due to the businesslike temperament she shared with her father, late Prince Philip – she also had a lot in common with the Queen, including a love of horses and horse racing.
Prince Philip who … died in April at the age of 99, he once said of his daughter, “If she doesn’t fart or eat hay, she’s not interested.”
The Queen also appreciated her daughter’s stubborn work ethic.
Apparently, the two have gotten even closer in recent years, especially after the deaths of Queen Mother and Princess Margaret, who passed away a few months apart in 2002.
Princess Anna, along with her brother, King Charles III, was at the Queen’s bedside when she died at the age of 96.
