‘Prison Break’ star Sarah Wayne Callies claims her co-star spat in her face on set



Sarah Wayne Callies is opening up about the “rampant misogyny” she faced while filming Prison Break, including how she was allegedly spat on by a male colleague.

The actress made a revelation during it appearance on the Broad Ideas podcast. Monday after explaining to listeners that she recently re-watched the popular Fox series.

Callies stated that by re-watching the television show, which aired from 2005 to 2009, she came to appreciate her time on set despite “all the challenges” she initially dealt with being “the only woman around”.

She claimed that “this sword definitely has two edges”, as she recalled. “I once had an actor spit in my face on this show. And I said, “Oh shit.”

Callies, 46, promised fans she would speak in detail about the incident in a future episode of the “Prison Breaking” podcast with former co-star Paul Adelstein.

“We’ll talk about it someday, but… there were certain things. For example, I came home a few evenings and had to spend an hour trying to convince my husband not to take someone to the hospital,” she added.

The “Walking Dead” star added: “Some of the guys were great and some of them were just gentlemen.”

Although Callies didn’t mention any names, the hit series starred Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller, and for many of the actors it was the beginning of a newfound fame, which often led to chaos.

Initially, the mother of one did not want to watch the program again because she was afraid it would lead her into a “spiral” of questions: “What did I let them do?” What did I let them say? What have I endured? What didn’t I report?”

However, she admitted that she “made lifelong friends” with several other people she worked with on set.

Callies also explained that she “had no scenes with women,” which she described as a “missed opportunity.”

The actress, who played Sara Tancredi on the series, briefly reprized her role during the 2016 competition season.
