Queen Elizabeth II spent ‘weeks’ without seeing Philip: book

Queen Elizabeth II has not seen her husband Prince Philip for “weeks”, according to a new book called “Elizabeth: An Intimate Portrait”.
According to an excerpt from an upcoming biography, the rare encounters began when the Duke of Edinburgh retired in 2017 obtained by the Daily Mail on Friday.
However, author Gyles Brandreth also reportedly notes that the couple kept in contact during this time, talking “regularly” on the phone.
According to the book, Her Majesty understood that her and her husband’s arrangement might seem odd to some, but reportedly knew that Philip did not want to “be embarrassed” and wanted to “live his days in his own way”.
Five years after retiring, the Queen’s longtime spouse died in April 2021.
Brandreth’s book also reportedly reveals that Queen Elizabeth II was determined to be by Philip’s side when he passed away as they found a new appreciation for each other during the 2020 pandemic.
During the coronavirus pandemic, the couple, who have been married for 73 years, reportedly spent more time together in Scotland and at Windsor Castle.
After Philip’s death, the Queen was plunged into “intense personal grief”, the passage reads, but she felt it was her “Christian duty” to give her best, despite her own frail health.
Brandreth notes in the book that watching television helped King to ease his mood, especially dramas such as the British police drama “Line of Duty”.
The Queen reportedly refused to slow down until last fall, when she suffered a sudden drop in energy and was instructed by doctors to mellow out, the broadcaster adds.
“My husband would certainly not approve,” Her Majesty would say according to Brandreth.
The Queen’s last public appearance was in June during the finale of her Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
She joined her son King Charles III and his wife Camilla Parker Bowles, as well as grandson Prince William, his wife Kate Middleton, and three children: Prince George, 9, Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince Louis, 4.
Her Royal Highness died in September at the age of 96 after 70 years of reign.
