A Portsmouth home invasion targeting elderly residents led to the arrest of two perpetrators after they were caught by ring cameras installed in the victims’ homes.
Mitchell Boney Jr., 25, and Tyree Demont Boney Jr., 22, have been named by investigating authorities as suspects in the case. Both are wanted for various crimes including kidnapping, armed robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery using a firearm.
It was reported to authorities that Mitchell Boney Jr. frequently drives an orange 2017 Dodge Charger, license plate number UBS7788.
The surveillance camera shows the pair being pushed into the closet by the two suspects, who are dressed in dark clothing.
Video from the surveillance system at the Virginia home was provided by police and revealed the crime being committed at the home. One of the suspects is observed giving instructions to the resident to keep quiet while at the same time placing a gun on her back.
The victims quickly hid in the closet while the suspects, both armed with firearms, began pacing the room shortly after the shooting. A walker was used by one of the victims because they had difficulty walking.
After some time, the suspects began stealing items from the apartment, including what appeared to be cell phones, while the owners hid in the closet. After a few moments, one of the suspects was seen with the safe as they were being filmed by the camera.
On the other hand, the Virginia police have made it clear that the elderly were not harmed in any way. They have also requested that authorities be contacted for more information about the robbery at their Virginia home.

Video from the home’s security system in Virginia was turned over to police and showed the crime was committed in the home. We noticed that one of the suspects put a gun on the resident’s back while telling her to remain quiet.
The victims took cover in the closet as the suspects, both loaded with firearms, paced the room immediately after the shooting. The victims bury themselves as soon as possible. One of the victims, who had trouble walking, used a walker because it helped them get around.
After some time, the suspects began stealing items from the apartment, apparently including cell phones, while the owners of the items hid in the closet. A short time later, one of the suspects was seen carrying the safe as they were being filmed by a camera.
According to the police officer, “usually in home burglaries, the perpetrators are known to the victim,” meaning “we don’t have anyone walking around kicking down people’s doors.” [Case in point] “We have people known to the victim,” the investigator said. No one can say for sure who gave them the information and we do not know who it was… At this time I have no information or knowledge of how this material was distributed to the public.
On the other hand, the Virginia police have made it clear that the elderly were not harmed in any way and that they were not even there during the incident. They have also requested that authorities be notified so they can have more information about the robbery at their Virginia home.
