River Phoenix’s mom and sister pay tribute to the deceased actor on his birthday


On his 52nd birthday, Rivera Phoenix’s loved ones took a moment to reflect on the life of their beloved, deceased actor.

Earlier this week, the actor’s mother, Arlyn “Heart” Phoenix shared her photo of River on Instagram as she wrote a few words from her heart.

“On August 23, 1970 at 12.03 in the small town of Madras in Oregon, I became a mother” – she wrote next black and white picture.

Arlyn, who is also the mother of Oscar-winning actor Joaquin Phoenix, continued: “52 years ago I experienced a LOVE that I couldn’t understand that changed my life and multiplied in my life.

“In the last years since I posted on Facebook, I have shared how much his life and his passing have affected me. It remains a guiding light on my way forward. “

“When I am reminded of the words of a song that River wrote at the age of 15, ‘RUN FOR THE PAYMENT WITH LOVE AND PEACE WILL BE NEXT’, I am always grateful for the inspiration that is at the heart of The River Phoenix Center for Peacebuilding,” she added.

Rivera’s younger sister, Rain Phoenix, also shared a tearful tribute to the star of “My Own Private Idaho” on social media.

“Happy birthday River,” she wrote next to the flick of the deceased actor.

Quoting the lyrics of her song “Immolate”, Rain continued: “I’m only as good as your friendship made me …”

At just 23, River died of a drug overdose outside Hollywood club The Viper Room in October 1993.
