Sean Kingston is speaking out after police raided his Florida home and arrested his mother
Sean Kingston spoke out after police raided his South Florida home and arrested his mother amid an investigation into theft and fraud allegations.
“People love negative energy!” – the 34-year-old “Beautiful Girls” singer wrote on her Instagram Story on Thursday. “I’m good and so is my mother! …my lawyers are handling everything at the moment.”
The Broward County Sheriff’s Office told Page Six that an undisclosed investigation began earlier in the day in Dania Beach, Florida, and led to Kingston’s residence.
Several detectives and members of the police SWAT team filled the Jamaican musician’s home, and a dozen or so deputies were seen near the command center in the driveway.
Page Six has learned that police served search and arrest warrants before arresting Kingston’s 61-year-old mother, Janice Turner.
She was arrested on suspicion of “numerous counts of fraud and theft.”
The “Take You There” singer did not appear to be home at the time, and law enforcement has not confirmed whether one of the arrest warrants was for him.
According to court documents obtained by Page Six, the police raid came after Kingston was sued in February by Ver Ver Entertainment for failing to pay the costs of selling and installing a 232-inch TV.
Dennis Card, company lawyer, he told People Thursday: “We have been waiting for this raid for over two months.”
Card also accused Kingston – born Kisean Paul Anderson – of orchestrating a scheme to obtain expensive goods without paying.
“He likes to shine, he likes to show off, he’s a showman” – lawyer allegedly NBC 6 South Florida.
“My client has a $150,000 TV sound system there, along with watches worth about $1 million and a custom-made bed for $80,000. This is organized, systematic fraud.”
In 2016, Kingston was sued for over $300,000 for purchasing jewelry he couldn’t afford.
