Serena Williams speaking on “Davos of the Hamptons”
Before entering court at the US Open, Serena Williams appeared on stage at the ultra-elite meeting of billionaires and businessmen at the 1640 Society Family Office Wealth Forum, also known as the “Davos of the Hamptons” – to talk about her VC Fund.
The tennis legend – who has 23 Grand Slam singles to his name and just won his first US Open game this week – recently announced in Vogue that she will retire after this year’s tournament to focus on both her family and Serena Ventures, which she started in 2014.
In March, it announced that it had raised $ 111 million, which it will invest with founders who hold different points of view.
We were told that Williams spoke with conference attendees about her portfolio of over 50 companies, including early unicorn investments such as MasterClass and Noom, impressing seasoned investors, tycoons and machers such as Apax Partners’ short-lived Alan Patricof White House spokesman Anthony Scaramucci, Tim Draper, Kent Swig, former Marvel CEO Peter Cuneo, philanthropist Nancy Davis and Joshua Friedman of Canyon Partners.
The annual conference is by invitation only and covers powerful names such as Kennedy, Bush, Ford, Rockefeller, Getty, Johnson, Heinz, and even Musk. The website says: “The Forum brings together distinguished families and philanthropists who spend their holidays in the Hamptons, the larger community of New York, as well as international families from the Middle East, Europe and Asia who are looking for a private and exclusive place to network, exchange new information and ideas and listen to the leaders in the field. “
Along with the speakers, we were told that this year’s event had many opportunities to rub elbows. Impact Wealth Magazine editor Hillary Latos and publishers Adam Weiss and Angela Gorman hosted lunch at Libbie Mugrabi’s Water Mill.
Guests also mingled at the enormous Michael Loeb mansion on Meadow Lane Beach. Dom appeared in the TV series “Billions”.
After the conference, the VIPs had a candlelight dinner by the beach at the house of Louise Blouin, who had previously hosted artistic media empire including “Art + Auction” and “Contemporary Painter”, called La Dune.
The $ 63 million house was involved in bankruptcy court in May and recently appeared on the list of the best water eaters in the area.
