Sheryl Lee Ralph had a fashion crisis before Emma 2022
This closet failure might have sent someone straight to the headmaster.
‘Abbott Elementary’ star Sheryl Lee Ralph was stunned on the 2022 Emmy Awards red carpet on Monday, September 12, wearing a sleek strapless black velvet gown with orange lining – but almost suffered a serious faux fashion belt, appearing in the same dress like someone else.
“The designer gave my partner and me the same sketch of the same dress,” the sitcom star said the Associated Press on the carpet.
Ralph discovered the situation on set when the aforementioned star, Lisa Ann Walter, showed Ralph a picture of the shoulder-length green puff-sleeved dress she planned to wear at the awards ceremony.
“Until five days ago, I didn’t have a dress, I had nothing,” said Ralph. “Brandon Blackwood heard about my situation from Roberto, a stylist in New York.”
Ralph, 65, said Blackwood “picked up the pace” and “was in Japan and started making a gown on a flight to the Pacific.”
Designer – who creates handbags and small accessories and only recently introduced footwear with one pair of custom-made shoes – he made his “first dress in history” for this occasion, by Instagram.
Fans called the band “legendary” and raved that Ralph “looks great as always.”
Her stylist, Roberto Johnson, has also had a full-circle moment since he did he wrote on his Instagram Stories: “The day after my 15th anniversary of migrating to the US, I can say that [sic] I styled an Emmy winner! “
Ralph, who plays longtime teacher Mrs. Barbara Howard on ABC, of course equipped her with a Brandon Blackwood mini purse, as well as a diamond necklace and a long braid with rhinestones.
Ralph he was praised for an inspirational speech after receiving the award for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.
“Anyone who has ever had a dream and thought that your dream is not, cannot not come true, I am here to tell you that this is what faith looks like,” she told the audience.
