Seoul, Sep 18 (IANS) South Korea’s new coronavirus cases fell for the fourth back to back day to below 40,000 on Sunday as the spread of the infection rebounded.
The country detailed 34,764 new coronavirus contaminations, including 241 from abroad, bringing the total caseload to 24,394,466, the Korea Infectious prevention and Anticipation Organization (KDCA) said.

The daily caseload decreased by more than 8,600 from the previous day, the Yonhap news organization announced, citing the KDCA.
The omicron strain prompted a resurgence of infection in early July, with the daily caseload peaking at more than 180,000 by mid-August after falling to as low as 3,000 in June. Specialists accept that the wave of infection is currently on target for a steady decline.
The KDCA detailed 46 deaths from the Coronavirus, putting the loss of life at 27,828. The casualty rate was 0.11 percent.

The number of patients with major illnesses reached 489, up 12 from a day earlier.
