Sydney Sweeney responded to backlash over mom’s birthday photos

Sydney Sweeney wants you to know that sometimes a birthday is just a birthday.

August 27 in Euphoria star caused controversy after publishing photos of his mother LisaCelebration of the 60th anniversary in a western theme Instagram. She captioned her post, “There’s no better way to celebrate my mom than with a surprise.”

She included a photo of a male guest wearing what many fans called a Blue Lives Matter design, along with a video of partygoers wearing red baseball caps. Her brother Trent specified in a separate Instagram a message that read, “Make Sixty Great Again,” on the hats. Former president Donald TrumpThe 2016 campaign slogan was “Make America Great Again.”

In the hours after Sidney shared her photos, social media users expressed either criticism or support for her family and entered into political arguments among themselves.

The White lotus actress later tweeted“You guys are wild. An innocent celebration of my mother’s 60th birthday turned into an absurd political statement that was not intended. Please stop making assumptions.”
