The creator of “Succession” insults King Charles III in his speech to Emma 2022
“Succession” creator Jesse Armstrong rejected King Charles III in his acceptance speech for Best Drama Series at Emmy 2022 on Monday night.
“Great Week of Succession. Britain’s new king… for us, ”said the native Brit in front of the stellar Microsoft Theater audience in Los Angeles.
“Uhm, evidently a little more votes involved in our win than Prince Charles,” he continued, appreciating the votes of the Television Academy that won his team a gold statuette.
As cheers and sighs filled the room, Armstrong added, “I’m not saying we are more legitimate in our situation than he is. We will leave it to other people.
He then walked away from the royal talk and applauded those involved in the success of his HBO series. “We are extremely grateful for this honor,” said Armstrong. “This group is amazing. It’s a team effort. “
Emma’s viewers had mixed feelings about his kicking at Charles.
“Winning the best drama and telling a joke about royal succession on national television is a nice choice,” one tweeted while another echoed, “a bit of royal succession in the Best Drama Succession speech that I shudder at.”
Meanwhile, some fans seemed amused.
“Why does a dude claim the Succession Award by looking for enemies in the omgndjsksmddjj royalty,” one person wrote.

“It’s so funny bc ik these people watch the succession and laugh at all the fucked up jokes and can’t laugh at it, although it’s literally true that more emmy votes were actually cast compared to making the UK royal responsible for the country catch LMAO, ”another person added.
Charles, 73, was officially proclaimed the reigning monarch of Britain and the Commonwealth on Saturday morning – just days after the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, at the age of 96.
His Majesty’s two-part accession council was held in the Representative Apartments of St. James in London.
“I know how deep you and the whole nation are, and I think I can say that the whole world pities me for the irreparable loss we all suffered,” said the king in part.
“My mother’s government was unmatched for duration, sacrifice and devotion. Even in mourning, we thank you for this most faithful life. I am deeply aware of this great heritage and the obligations and heavy responsibilities of sovereignty that have now passed onto me. “
