Critics of Wilde and Styles as a couple tend to stick with the usual grudge that occurs when hot famous people find each other. Likewise, there is rarely a true cause of vitriol, although skeptics can always come up with something.

Age difference, for example.

“Obviously, it’s very tempting to fix a false narrative,” Wilde told Vogue for the January 2022 cover. “But I think you realize that when you’re truly happy, it doesn’t matter what strangers think of you. For you, only what is real, what you love and whom you love is important.”

Mind you, she never called Stiles by his first name. But marveling at how “over the past 10 years, as a society, we’ve put so much more value on the opinions of strangers than those closest to us,” she stopped worrying if the peanut gallery was throwing rocks.

“I’m happier than I’ve ever been,” she said. “And I’m healthier than I’ve ever been, and it’s just great to feel that.”
