Tina Knowles revealed that daughter Solange was conceived on the Nile
Tina Knowles went crazy on the Nile.
70-year-old businesswoman revealed on Vogue’s “The Run-Through” podcast that her younger daughter Solange was conceived on the Nile in Egypt.
“I thought I was having a boy and I wanted to name him Niles. But I didn’t know this girl came” – Knowles he said in the May 23 episode.
The mother of two made a shocking confession while discussing the inspiration behind the iconic names of Solange and her older sister Beyoncé.
Knowles remembers that the idea for the name Solange came from a children’s book she bought in Paris.
“I bought a book of names for my girlfriend in Paris, and she was expecting a baby. And then the next year I had a baby, so I pulled out this old book,” she explained.
Solange (37) has previously reflected on the story of her conception during: Evening Standard interview from 2017.
“I had some revelations when my parents found out that they had conceived me in Egypt, after visiting the pyramids of Giza and [I connected] to this and to the constellation Orion, which coincides with Giza,” she said then.
Her 2017 tour was titled Orion’s Rise.
Additionally, the “Cranes in the Sky” singer collaborated with Kendrick Lamar on the song “Nile” for Beyoncé’s 2019 soundtrack “The Lion King: The Gift.”
Knowles welcomed Solange in June 1986 — five years after Beyoncé was born.
The 32-time Grammy winner’s surname is her mother’s maiden name, which evolved from “Boyoncé” and “Beyincé”, her mother’s mother explained on “The Run-Through” podcast..
Knowles noted that she felt it was important to keep the name alive because there were “very few” boys in the family.
The Cécred co-founder made headlines earlier this week when he revealed Beyoncé, 42, was bullied as a child.
“She was very shy and was bullied a little bit,” she told Vogue. “But the day she stood up for someone – she didn’t stand up for herself, she stood up for them. … I couldn’t be more proud of her.”
