Todd and Julie Chrisley are “optimistic” as they appeal their prison sentences

Todd and Julie Chrisley are not giving up without a fight and hope to come out victorious.

The day after the two were sentenced to a combined 19 years in prison for financial crimes, they vowed to appeal the decision and explained why they were “optimistic about the future”.

“Yesterday was a difficult day for the Chrisley family. But Todd and Julie are people of faith, and faith empowers them as they appeal to their beliefs.” – The duo’s attorney, Alex Little, he told the People Tuesday.

“Their trial was marked by serious and repeated errors, including government lying to juries about the taxes the couple paid,” Little said.

“Based on these considerations, we are optimistic about the future.”

Todd, 53, was sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for bank fraud and tax evasion. Julie, 49, was sentenced to seven years for her part in the crimes. Both sentences will be followed by a 16-month probationary period.

The ‘Chrisley Knows Best’ stars – whose reality shows and spinoff series were canceled following the conviction – were found guilty of multiple charges in June after being indicted in August 2019.

“The Chrisleys have built an empire based on the lie that their wealth comes from dedication and hard work,” prosecutors wrote in last week’s sentencing memorandum.

The director almost didn’t cast the young actor for the role…

“The jury’s unanimous verdict clears things up: Todd and Julie Chrisley are professional con artists who made their living jumping from one scam to another, lying to banks, ripping salespeople and dodging taxes at every turn.”

Todd and Julie, who have maintained their innocence all along, had previously sought a less than recommended prison sentence. They got much more than they demanded, but much less than the prosecutors wanted.
