Trevor Noah leaves the Daily Show after seven years
Trevor Noah goes on.
Host announced in the Thursday episode The Daily Show, which he will soon retire after taking over Jon Stewart seven years ago.
Reflecting on his anniversary on the show, he told viewers, “All the time I was thinking about everything we’ve been through … and I realized that after seven years my time was up.”
He added that he “loves the show host”, calling it one of his “greatest challenges” and “joys”.
“After seven years, I feel the time has come,” he continued, describing his desire to discover other parts of his life and longing for “learning other languages, going to other countries, putting on concerts and just being everywhere and doing everything.”
He added: “I am really grateful for every person who is here and even for people who are not because they have done wonderful things. It’s weird to say I’m not good at saying goodbye and it’s not immediate, I’m not disappearing, don’t worry.
“I’m really grateful to the network that believed in this random comedian no one knew on this side of the world.”
Noah, 38, went on to say that he “never dreamed” of being in the situation he was in, telling viewers he would not leave until they found a replacement.
Moments before its announcement, source told the Decision Maker that Noah will announce his departure from the show during the Thursday episode.
Paramount later confirmed this news to diversity with a statement that read: “We are grateful to Trevor for our amazing collaboration over the past seven years.
“Without a schedule for his departure, we are working together on the next steps. Looking ahead, we look forward to the next chapter in The Daily Show’s more than 25-year history, which continually redefines culture through harsh and entertaining social commentary, helping viewers understand the world around them. “
In 2015, the South African comedian took over The Daily Show in many ways.
Many viewers had trouble replacing Stewart after old tweets appeared that could be considered anti-Semitic. Some of his old habits in which he made seemingly derogatory jokes about Aboriginal women were also revealed.
He Diversity said in 2020 “I will say the first two years were terrible – and it was terrible because I took over one of the most beloved institutions in America.
“And although Jon Stewart handed me the reins, it was basically a year where people told me I shouldn’t be doing this job, and I’m not worthy of taking this place. And I still believed it.
However, Noah’s professional life isn’t the only thing that changes as he is reportedly dating 27-year-old singer Dua Lipa.
They were both spotted at a romantic dinner in New York City on Wednesday night.
“They sat quietly away from everyone else in the restaurant,” said an eyewitness to the Daily Mail, who was the first to share photos of their evening. “It was clear that they were inside of each other and sat close together throughout the meal.”
The initiate further revealed that the two “went out together and walked”, pausing several times “for long hugs” and even “kissed”.
