Valerie Bertinelli will pay Tom Vitale $2.2 million in divorce
Valerie Bertinelli has to pay to get out.
The One Day at a Time alum has agreed to pay her ex-husband Tom Vitale $2.2 million as part of divorce proceedings, according to court documents obtained by Page Six. The huge sum is in addition to the $500,000 she already gave him on May 24.
The documents also reveal that Vitale must leave Bertinelli’s Malibu, California home by December 31, as long as the actress pays him the sum she owes him. If not, he can stay at home without paying rent.
Under the prenuptial agreement, neither Bertinelli nor Vitale will pay each other alimony, the documents state.
The “Valerie’s Home Cooking” star, 62, and Vitale’s divorce were finalized on November 22, prompting her immediate celebration.
“My lawyer just called,” she raved in a video posted on her social media. “All documents are signed. They’re supposed to be complex.
“22/11/22 I am officially divorced,” continued Bertinelli. “Happily divorced. Finally. It’s finally over.
The Emmy winner ended with an excited “Yes!” She put the words “happily divorced” on the video.
Bertinelli’s video comes a year after she filed for legal separation from the financial planner she married in January 2011.
Prior to her affair with Vitale, which began in 2004, the “Hot in Cleveland” alumnus was married to late rocker Eddie Van Halen from 1981 to 2001, although their divorce was not finalized until six years after their separation.
The former couple welcomed son Wolfgang, now 31, before going their separate ways.
