Variety cover Meghan Markle postponed after the death of Queen Elizabeth II

The upcoming Meghan Markle “Variety” cover for the issue of “Power of Women” has been postponed out of respect for the late Queen Elizabeth II.

The 41-year-old presenter of the podcast “Archetypes” received a distinction next to, among others, Avy DuVernay, Elizabeth Olsen, and Hillary and Chelsea Clinton.

The magazine announced on Thursday that the Markle cover would not be available until further notice, while she and the royal family mourn the loss of Her Majesty, who died on September 8 at the age of 96.

“Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, has been voted one of this year’s star awards” Diversity wrote via Twitter on Wednesday.

“The Duchess’s cover will be postponed, out of respect for the recent death of Queen Elizabeth II.”

In addition, Markle will no longer attend the event accompanying the September 28 issue of “Power of Women” in Los Angeles.

The “Suit” graduate and her husband, Prince Harry – Elizabeth’s grandson – are now in Britain, preparing for the king’s funeral on Monday.

The pair raised their eyebrows when it was noticed on Wednesday that they were holding hands in the monarch’s procession – as they are no longer working members of the royal family.

“Harry and Meghan are bereaved relatives and are not bound by royal protocol,” body language expert Inbaal Honigman told British newspaper The Daily Express in defense of the couple.

“Their hands are there to support themselves emotionally during this loss,” added Honigman.

Markle and Harry, 38, relinquished their royal duties as Duke and Duchess of Sussex in January 2020 due to ongoing problems such as media control and internal family turmoil. They have since moved to California.

Despite all the tensions with the rest of England’s royal family, Markle spoke only appreciative of Elizabeth.

“All these layers were so important to me that when I met her I had such deep understanding and of course incredible respect for being able to spend this time with her,” Markle continued. “And we had really … she is an amazing woman.”
