Videos show water GUSHING through a casino after Las Vegas saw flash floods again in 2 weeks. Rain battered the Planet Hollywood Casino as water crashed through the ceiling and caused extensive damage, while the blackjack tables were flooded. LAS VEGAS, NEVADA: On Thursday, August 11 evening, the National Weather Service issued a flood alert warning, keeping residents aware of possible heavy rain, flooding, and frequent lightning. Not long after, Twitter users took to the site with photos and videos of water pouring into casinos, flooding blackjack tables, and more horrifying footage happening right in the middle of Nevada City. Las Vegas was hit with 0.58 inches of rain Thursday adding to the 1.28 inches of rain in Las Vegas this season according to the National Weather Service. “What a storm!” the weather service exclaimed. News of the second flood comes nearly two weeks after Twitter users released videos of another flood that caused utter chaos along Las Vegas Boulevard. At Circa Resort and Casino, water can be seen pooling on the floor after it recently exploded and poured onto the screen. This can be seen in videos that have just been shared online. Many more videos showing events similar to those that took place in Nevada have been discovered. A second video was sent to Twitter, and in it, the Caesars Palace screen can be seen with water running down it. Water damage was also noted to have occurred in the LINQ Hotel’s underground parking garage. After discovering that the ceiling was compromised by water, the Planet Hollywood Casino was also damaged by the flooding scenario. When people in Las Vegas looked out their windows after the storm passed, they said they could see “curtains of rain.” During the storm, there were many reports of continuous lightning, and there were many instances where the power supply was interrupted. Alexander Wolf, a Las Vegas local, was quoted by the NYP as saying, “Electric surges triggered fire alarms in many buildings, prompting firefighters to have to go into the storm to respond. theirs.” Wolf was referring to the recent storm that hit the city. According to information provided by Las Vegas Fire Information Officer Tim Szymanski to The Post, there have been no reports of injuries as a direct result of the flood that the department has received so far. Despite this, it appears that the flood was responsible for a large amount of property damage. “We have amazing drainage systems, but sometimes the water overloads them,” Simon Jowitt, an economic geologist and lecturer at the University of Las Vegas, told The Post. It is also possible for homeless people, who may seek refuge in drainage systems, to put themselves in harm’s way by doing so.” He continued by saying, “Another concern is that we don’t get a lot of rain, so it’s hard to check if the roofs and the like are really waterproof; maybe what happened in the casinos tonight.””
