What did Kanye West promise? LA homeless shelter rapper slammed for promising to help

Rapper Kanye West released a rather mysterious message targeting “kids” and “the homeless” on Friday, August 12. However, a TMZ article claims that LA Mission, a non-profit group, is furious with West for breaching its commitments to helping the poor.

While it’s unclear what West’s latest post meant to say, it does liven up conversations about his pledge to help the charity and the homeless find jobs, housing and education.

West posted a picture of a poster that read:

“Think of youth. Look at the street people. the primary source of inspiration for any design.”

What is known about Kanye West’s involvement with the Los Angeles homeless shelter?

Kanye West previously served 1,000 meals to homeless people in Los Angeles on Thanksgiving. According to TMZ, West met with Los Angeles Mission CEO Pastor Troy Vaughn in November to discuss strategies for solving the city’s homelessness problem.

Pastor Vaughn thanked the rapper on Twitter for “showing his compassion and charity to those in need” by giving out food on Thanksgiving.

The rapper proposed a proposal to help feed the homeless and help them find “education, jobs and housing,” according to TMZ. Its mission was to “end the cycle of homelessness and poverty by stabilizing people in a safe and spiritual environment, connecting them with solutions and accompanying them on their journey.”

Additionally, he had planned to once again bring Sunday worship to Skid Row in Los Angeles, believing it would uplift and heal the neighborhood. In 2019 he held a Sunday service at the Union Rescue Mission in Skid Row.

West spoke during the event about the importance of following Jesus Christ and his desire to reunite his family, which includes Kim Kardashian and his children North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm, to feed the poor. He observed:

“I serve as pastor to my family. I have a house next door so I can be as close as possible to my kids while I’m away from home. I try to be present immediately.”

Kanye West also built prototypes of his YZY shelters, which provided affordable housing for the homeless. However, the buildings were apparently demolished because the rapper didn’t have the necessary building permits.
