What happened to Grandma Nell O’Brien on the Chesapeake coast?

After being diagnosed with pneumonia, Nell O’Brien, aka Diane Ladd, of Chesapeake Shores was told she had just six months to live. She disproved them when she overcame the disease.

Nell, the grandmother of the O’Brien family on the show, is affable, caring and knowledgeable. Mick was left with numerous young children by his wife Megan, the mother of their son.

Then Nell, who had moved in, took care of the O’Brien family. Despite the family’s many struggles and divisions over the years, she has acted as a unifying influence, according to fandom sources.

She is all too aware of the shortcomings and mistakes of her loved ones, but never makes decisions for them. Instead, the grandmother lets the children decide for themselves, sometimes walking more slowly than before.

In the list of actors, Ladd doesn’t seem to play the same role. She has long acted as the family’s mediator in conflicts of all kinds.
